As a Senior Merchandiser, you will play a key role in managing end-to-end merchandising processes, ensuring smooth communication with buyers, and coordinating with production teams. This position requires a proactive leader who can handle client relationships, negotiate effectively, and ensure seamless execution of orders while maintaining quality and deadlines.
∎ Job Responsibilities:
∎ Buyer Relationship Management:
∎ Act as the primary point of contact for buyers, managing all marketing and merchandising activities independently. Handle price quotations, negotiate effectively, and prepare detailed cost breakdown sheets. Regularly update buyers with order status, ensuring clear and professional communication.
∎ Product Development & Sampling:
∎ Oversee the entire product development process, from concept to final design, aligning with buyer expectations and market trends. Manage sample development to ensure timely submissions that meet design, quality, and buyer standards. Ensure accurate and on-time submission of all developments, including garments, fabrics, accessories, trims, prints, washing, and embellishments.
∎ Fabric & Process Expertise:
∎ Have a strong understanding of denim fabric sourcing, washing techniques, patterns, consumption, and production processes. Ensure the quality of denim products aligns with buyer requirements and industry standards.
∎ Production & Shipment Coordination:
∎ Work closely with production teams to ensure orders are executed and shipped on time, maintaining quality and compliance. Coordinate with raw material sourcing, planning, and material utilization teams for seamless production flow. Monitor and guide production units to meet timelines and quality benchmarks.
∎ Costing & Negotiation:
∎ Perform detailed costing and pricing for orders, ensuring competitiveness and profitability. Lead price negotiations with buyers and suppliers to secure favorable terms.
∎ Team Leadership & Coordination:
∎ Guide and mentor junior merchandisers, ensuring they align with company protocols and buyer requirements. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality assurance, and logistics, to achieve business objectives.
∎ Reporting & Communication:
∎ Maintain comprehensive records of order details, costing, and communication. Provide regular updates and reports to management on order progress, potential challenges, and solutions.
∎ Market Awareness:
∎ Stay updated on the latest market trends, competitor strategies, and buyer preferences, particularly in denim and woven garments. Use insights to propose innovative designs and production techniques.
∎ Additional Requirements:
∎ Experience:
∎ 5-8 years in merchandising, with a strong focus on denim and woven garments.
∎ Skills:
∎ Exceptional communication and presentation skills in English. Proficiency in garment production, patterns, and washing processes. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple orders simultaneously.
