- Strong understanding of fabric, garment construction, consumption breakdown, and production methods.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical and wash processes, and how they impact both quality and cost.
- Proven track record in negotiating with suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring both value and compliance.
- High level of competence in reading and analyzing tech packs, materials, and technical specifications.
- 5-7 years of solid experience in garment costing, in both woven & knit apparel and competitive price segments.
- Experience working with European supermarket chains or hypermarket retailers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage a strong sourcing network across Bangladesh.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to justify cost logic in internal and external discussions.
- Accurate attention to detail, logical mindset, and the ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities & Context: swiss Imperial is a fast-paced and quality-driven garment buying house working with reputed European brands and global retailers. We are currently looking for a sharp, aggressive, and detail-oriented Costing Specialist (Woven) who thrives in a challenging environment and understands the business of garment sourcing inside out.
1. Product Costing & Pricing:
- Develop accurate cost breakdowns for knit and woven garments, including fabric, trims, accessories, labor, overhead, and logistics.
- Analyze and negotiate fabric and trim prices with suppliers to ensure cost competitiveness.
- Calculate CM (Cost of Making) based on sewing time, efficiency, and production line capability.
- Prepare detailed costing sheets and maintain costing history for reference and analysis.
- Evaluate and update costing based on buyer requirements, material changes, or production variations.
2. Merchandising & Order Execution
- Coordinate with buyers to understand technical specifications, target prices, and quality standards.
- Work closely with the design and sampling teams for prototype development, ensuring cost feasibility.
- Follow up on order confirmations, approvals, and pre-production activities.
- Manage timelines from development to shipment, ensuring on-time delivery.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, mills, and internal production teams to resolve issues quickly.
3. Fabric & Trim Sourcing
- Source and develop fabrics and trims suitable for buyer requirements and cost parameters.
- Liaise with mills and accessory suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and maintain vendor relationships.
- Assess new materials for innovation, sustainability, and cost benefits.
4. Production Coordination
- Monitor production progress and identify any cost-related variances.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to ensure that cost targets align with quality and efficiency standards.
- Review wastage, consumption, and yield reports to identify cost optimization opportunities.
5. Cost Optimization & Analysis
- Analyze post-order costing versus actual consumption to find improvement areas.
- Identify cost-saving measures through process efficiency, vendor consolidation, or material alternatives.
- Benchmark costing with market trends to ensure competitiveness.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain costing databases, vendor price lists, and consumption libraries for quick reference.
- Prepare cost comparison reports and present cost summaries to management.
- Support management with profitability analysis and margin tracking.
7. Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Guide and train junior merchandisers on costing techniques and buyer communication.
- Collaborate with finance and production planning teams for cost validation and budgeting.
- Support sourcing and product development teams with cost insights during new season planning.
