Job Context: Islamic Relief Worldwide Bangladesh is implementing the Shelter, Livelihood, and WASH Facilities Improvement Project (SWIP) in Bhasan Char under the Humanitarian Crisis Response Programme. The Project Officer – Livelihood will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring field-level livelihood activities, including agriculture, livestock, and fisheries interventions. The position will ensure effective community mobilization, capacity development, market linkage, and coordination with relevant stakeholders to enhance the sustainable livelihoods of project participants.
Implementation of Field Level Livelihood Activities-55%
Ensure the implementation of all Agriculture, Livelihood, and Livestock-related components of the project.
Assist and guide the project staff to select the rightsholders according to the guidelines for the project
Ensure to formation & functionality of self-help groups
Facilitate field-level training for the right holders and farmers’ field schools and ensure agro-inputs & other assets reach the right holders for proper and successful implementation
Ensure capacity assessment of rightsholders and prepare training/development plans
Provide input support and on-field solutions to the right-handed suppliers
Time to time share new agricultural (Crop, Livestock, and Fisheries) technology with rightsholders and motivate them to implement
Provide technical advice and follow up on the homestead livelihood activities and demonstrations, and project interventions by visiting the household regularly for effective implementation of the project activities
Documentation and support to prepare the project report through supplying project-related data
Monitor and supervise the field-level project activities of Agriculture, Livelihood & NFI, and project staff
Monitor and evaluate the progress of IGA and develop a linkage with local markets
Assist the project team to provide technical support on Agriculture and Livelihood-related activities.
Ensure to collect and analyze information on the context for livelihoods and agriculture.
Take initiatives to develop individual, need-based, and appropriate household business plans.
Ensure project-related financial support to the beneficiaries is done properly with transparency, and related data are kept up to date.
Prepare a service map of the camp area.
Networking and market linkage- 15%
Establish a network with the government agriculture department, livestock department, relevant sectors, and other service providers to bring the project participants under various GO & NGOs support;
Establish a network with local GO, NGO bodies, and link their facilities with our project participants;
Enhance market linkage with the local markets and value addition.
Strengthen existing community groups & networks
Organise knowledge sharing and technology transferring sessions in collaboration with other livelihood actors.
Establish a network with the CiC office as well as other stakeholders
Reporting and Documentation- 15%
Ensure accurate record keeping and systematic documentation & filing.
Provide information for monthly, interim, final reports, event reports, and sectoral reports.
Collect case stories from the field.
Document best practices and lessons learned.
Collect visual documentation of agricultural, livelihood & NFI activities.
Maintain proper documentation - event reports, success stories, etc.
Materials Development- 10%
Develop flip charts and different awareness materials for field-level trainings.
Develop a training module on aqua culture, agriculture, poultry, goat rearing, and IGA, etc.
Others- 5%
Participate & be involved with seasonal programs (Ramadan, Qurbani, Winterization, etc.) activities.
Take initiatives to ensure the security of project staff and participants during the intervention.
Ensure CFRM in the project area and office.
Willing and able to travel frequently for extended periods and to remote areas of the projects.
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation, and as well as Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
