Experience: 1 to 2 years of solid experience as a Merchandiser in a reputable garment buying house or an export-oriented composite factory.
The Merchandiser will act as the vital bridge between international buyers and manufacturing factories. You will manage the entire product lifecycle—from receiving the initial design/tech pack from the buyer, through sourcing and costing, up to final production and shipment. Your primary goal is to ensure that products are delivered on time, within budget, and to the exact quality standards specified by the client.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Costing
Analyze buyer tech packs, inquiry sheets, and design sketches to understand product specifications.
Calculate accurate consumption of fabrics and trims to prepare competitive price quotations (FOB/CM) for buyers.
Source innovative fabrics, accessories, and trims according to buyer requirements.
2. Order Management & Sourcing
Select and negotiate with appropriate local or international factories for fabric, trim sourcing, and garment manufacturing.
Develop critical path/Time & Action (T&A) plans for each order and strictly monitor milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
Place booking orders for yarn, fabric, and accessories with supplier networks.
3. Sample Development & Approvals
Coordinate with the sample room to develop Proto, Fit, Salesman (SMS), Size Set, and Pre-Production (PP) samples.
Review samples internally for measurements, workmanship, and styling before sending them to the buyer for approval.
Ensure all comments from buyers regarding samples are properly communicated to the factory and implemented.
4. Production Tracking & Quality Assurance
Conduct Pre-Production (PP) meetings with the factory production and QA teams to clear up any potential bottlenecks before bulk cutting.
Regularly visit factories to monitor daily production status, ensuring the T&A schedule is met.
Collaborate with internal and external QA teams to handle inline and final inspections.
5. Shipment & Documentation Coordination
Coordinate with the commercial and shipping departments to ensure booking, loading, and shipping documents are prepared accurately.
Proactively troubleshoot production delays or material shortages and update buyers with viable solutions.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Merchandising, Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, or a relevant business discipline.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of solid experience as a Merchandiser in a reputable garment buying house or an export-oriented composite factory.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of woven, knit, or sweater production processes (depending on the company's focus).
Proficiency in consumption calculation, costing methods, and material sourcing.
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and tech-pack interpretation.
Soft Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for seamless buyer correspondence.
Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production deadlines.
