  • 3 - 10 years’ experience in relevant job, experience to work in multinational company will be an added advantage.

  • Must be self-motivating & team work mentality.

  • Must be able to work under pressure.



Responsibilities & Context:

HEMA is an international retail organization that is well-known for its products with the right combination of good quality, good design and great prices. HEMA was founded in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1926 and nowadays has more than 750 stores in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Germany, and Austria. Our product range consists of more than 32,000 different articles that are mostly designed and developed in-house by the HEMA team. To facilitate this, HEMA has its own buying offices in China, Hong Kong, Turkey, and Dhaka, Bangladesh with its Support Office located in Amsterdam.
For our Dhaka office we are searching for high qualified candidates for the position of Merchandiser.
Job Description:

  • Understand buyers’ requirements and closely work with design team to manage the correct samples within time and quality.

  • Keep track and update the critical path schedule (CPS) regularly and always keep pace with it to ensure on time delivery/confirm delivery date (CDD).

  • Buyer visits: proactive coordination with the buyer for any potential visits, creation of a schedule, preparing suppliers for the buying meeting and ensuring all assistance from the relevant parties.

  • To individually deal with the buyer for all marketing and merchandising operations,

  • including price quoting, negotiation, and sourcing.

  • Collect and place orders with proper factory and independently handling production from order placing to shipment.

  • Communicate with factory merchandiser to ensure fabric, trims and accessories are book on timely manner.

  • Close monitoring on samples submission for critical judgment and dispatched to be done on time for approval.

  • Resolve issues on day-to-day and troubleshooting with factories and support office on quality and delivery issues.

  • Arrange lab dip, trims, bulk fabric color, and quality testing for buyer approval.

  • Follow-up and ensure all fabrics, trims and accessories to be in supplier house before bulk production.

  • Handover approved sample, trims card and production file to factories to proceed with size set samples to start production.

  • Approve the quality control (QC) files for on time handover to suppliers to facilitate pre-production meeting and arrange approval on sample.

  • Prepare costing sheets (bill of materials) with all the necessary breakdowns from factories.

  • Regularly visit factories to conduct progress meetings, assess production status, and address relevant issues to ensure on-time quality delivery and gather market intelligence.

  • Coordinate and monitor quality of the product through quality control (QC) team to ensure quality are meeting HEMA standard.

  • To achieve the confirm delivery date (CDD), monitor projects outside of suppliers’ main factories associated with ongoing orders.

  • Follow up with planning/production/commercial team and ensure shipment move on time.

  • Collect pre-production, and final inspection plan from suppliers and share them with QC planning department for weekly qc action plan/schedule.

  • If required, work with fitting doll and technician for measurement issues.

  • Doing multi-way follow-up like: buyers, suppliers, vendor, production location and quality control etc.

  • Place forwarder booking through logistics by suppliers and monitor the shipment of the products.

  • Keep close monitoring on logistics works for smooth shipments.

  • Follow-up commercial document process and progress and taking initiative where required for smooth business operation.

  • Follow-up with suppliers’ performance and build corrective action plan (CAP) to mitigate any deficiency from HEMA standard.

  • Sample courier: On time sending appropriate sample to Netherlands, Shanghai, and other both local & abroad suppliers in efficient manner and sharing their updates with relevant parties.

  • Clean desk policy: when not in use or absence their work area, all critical documents, confidential letters, stationaries, samples, etc. should be taken off a desk/work area and locked away/stored in prescribed manner.

  • Sample storing: samples should be kept for review up to relevant period in allocated location with proper box labelling and declutter later in precise administrative manner for space management.
