  • 4-5 years in technical, QA, or PD roles within (International retail sourcing office) Manufacturing/RMG industry.

  • Good understanding of garment construction, patterns, and sewing techniques.

  • Familiarity with buyer tech packs (H&M, C&A, PVH, M&S, Walmart, etc.) is an added advantage.

  • Proficiency in MS Office tools and basic PLM systems.

  • Strong product and material knowledge.

  • Strong sketching and illustration skills.

  • Critical eye for color and details.

  • Ability to give clear instructions and guidelines to supplier and HEMA head office.

  • Analyzing skills with ability to produce high-quality process improvements.

  • Capability to judge sensitive situations and react accordingly.

  • Solid technical knowledge for product and function, fit, patternmaking, construction expertise, cost engineering, and knowledge of manufacturing processes.

  • Knowledge of CAT-CAM system, pattern software (Gerber/ Lectra/ Optitex) and hand pattern making.

  • High attention to detail, data accuracy, prioritization, and decision making.

  • Flexible attitude to change.

  • Clear communication skills for supplier follow-ups.

  • Highly motivated and result-driven individual

  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and can work in a multitasking environment.

Responsibilities & Context:

HEMA is an international retail organization that is well-known for its products with the right combination of good quality, good design and great prices. HEMA was founded in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 1926 and nowadays has more than 750 stores in The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Germany, and Spain. Our product range consists of more than 32,000 different articles that are mostly designed and developed in-house by the HEMA team. To facilitate this, HEMA has its own buying offices in China, Hong Kong, Turkey, and Dhaka, Bangladesh with its Support Office located in Amsterdam.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate all types of samples: counter sample, size set, seal, pre-production, etc., with a feasibility study of product and risk analysis.

  • Handle sample inspection and sample approval by reviewing construction, measurements, patterns, workmanship, garments outlook presentation, fitting (dummy and model), on fit sample and size set.

  • Measurement grading: reviewing measurement spec, collecting suppliers’ and own recommendations and disseminating them to the relevant NL team.

  • Child safety control by checking and ensuring that supplier is using safety-grade accessories, conducting required quality tests through HEMA HEMA-permitted testing lab.

  • Monitor the feeding of new styles, provide technical advice (sewing techniques, critical quality points, etc.) and guide the team to resolve all technical issues, in coordination with the technical team, to ensure that all relevant parameters are achieved to facilitate a smooth style change-over.

  • Conduct in-house test to verify on fabric strength/material analysis and product service life if applicable,

  • Providing the technical input (such as machinery, attachment availability, product quality, sewing techniques, bottleneck elimination etc.), foreseeing and taking preventive steps to avoid potential production problems.

  • Understanding the buyer’s idea and guiding factory to make producible blueprint (tech pack and spec sheet).

  • Presenting garment details to the factory in a way that they can execute production in an effective way

  • Clarify the technical requirements and recommend alternative value-added options to customers to arrive at mutually beneficial solutions.

  • Develop the base size patterns for the products and advise the team on grading, so as to develop size-wise pattern sets required for subsequent processes.

  • Analyze new styles together with the design and technical manager, providing the technical input to decide production viability and liaising with merchandisers as necessary.

  • Suggesting fit specifications comments – approve or reject garments on a daily basis, work closely for issuance of graded specs for bulk production, when approved, to ensure that garments meet company standards.

  • Prepare, record, and send comments and corrections to overseas suppliers, namely fit/spec/styling details.

  • Ensures all fit approvals are sent on time to suppliers.

  • Ensure that the products adequately meet the quality standards established by the company at all times.

  • Assist the design team in creating tech packs during the peak season.

  • Participate in fit review and utilize technical expertise by offering suggestions to improve fit by comparing the garment sample to the requested specs, sketch, tech pack, and approved showroom sales sample.

  • Identify any fitting issues, recommend appropriate adjustments, and collaborate with suppliers and factories to resolve them.

  • Providing fit technical support to and partners with fit technicians and designers at HQ to understand fit intent and aesthetic, ensuring translation into samples with consistency.

  • For sweater items, preparing and reviewing styling paper, gagged paper, suppliers’ comments and forwarding all together to relevant NL team.

  • Document and maintain detailed fit comments, measurements, and specifications for each garment style.

  • Providing suggestions for any claim settlement issue in regard of fitness.

  • Track and update fit records and ensure accurate communication to suppliers and internal teams.

  • Manage fit samples, organize fit sessions, and maintain fit sample inventory.

  • Providing technical training to suppliers regarding sampling procedure.
