Job Context:
∎ The Lab Assistant is a member of the IRC Primary Health Care Center (PHCC) team and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the IRCs Primary healthcare activities in the Rohingya Refugee Camp, Cox Bazar at IRC support PHCC. He/She will ensure the delivery of high quality laboratory service to ensure the proper diagnoses upon need. Whilst the MMT is not deployed, the team will contribute to improving the IRC’s existing health programs in the camps.

∎ Reporting to: Medical Doctor
∎ Contract Length: Up to May 31, 2020 (with possibility of extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Participate in planning of laboratory set up
∎ Participate in quality assurance planning of the laboratory
∎ Plan and prepare annual and quarterly logistics requirements for the laboratory
∎ Support preparing quality assurance tools and guidelines in line with the national guidelines
∎ Support higher management in decision-making
∎ Maintain safety measures for infection control in the laboratory
∎ Maintain optimum standard in smearing and microscopy following the SOP and guidelines
∎ Ensure maintenance of microscopy and other laboratory equipment as per the SOP and guidelines
∎ Ensure quality investigation and report processing within the facility
∎ Refer presumptive and complicated cases to designated facilities for further diagnosis
∎ Support in EQA and slide-rechecking
∎ Ensure hygienic disposal of waste materials
∎ Maintain contact tracing register for active case findings and refer presumptive cases to nearby diagnostic facility
∎ Assist govt. MT (Lab.) at UHC lab. Whenever necessary
∎ Any other job as required by the project
∎ Maintain regular coordination with related stakeholders
∎ Periodic monitoring of the Laboratory (for EQA Technician)
∎ Check the randomized slides and provide the result as first controller (for EQA Technician)
∎ Record results in respective forms and registers and report promptly to the requesting staff
∎ Ensure complete and accurate monthly and quarterly reporting as per the guideline
∎ Ensure wards/clinic areas are appropriately stocked with essential equipment and supplies
∎ Ensure patient confidentiality is respected, and that all consultations are conducted in a dignified and respectful manner.

∎ Staff Supervision & Development:
∎ Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and provide mentor ship to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions
∎ Provide support and mentor ship to other clinic staff, providing on-the-job training where needed
∎ Project Management:
∎ Implement outreach activities with the rest of the team to access “hard to reach? and vulnerable beneficiaries to increase service utilization
∎ Work with and support community volunteers to provide health promotion, community mobilization and awareness raising
∎ Ensure regular inventory and consumption tracking of SRH drugs and supplies
∎ Work with relevant staff to ensure prompt requesting of SRH drugs and supplies
∎ Coordination & Representation:
∎ Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local communities and other implementing partners
∎ Monitoring & Reporting:
∎ Ensure all patient consultations are documented and patient records completed
∎ Submit daily reports in a timely manner
∎ Other Duties:
∎ Consistently and dedicatedly monitor/assess the safety and security of the team; promptly reporting concerns or incidents to IRC management and liaising with community leaders and other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment for the facility team
∎ Preform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor

∎ Required to be able to and willing to assist with carrying patients on stretchers and carrying equipment

∎ Ability to live in challenging conditions and ability to work under difficult, high pressure situations
Salary: Tk. 24000 (Monthly)
