Responsibilities & Context: The Head (DGM )of CAD & Sample Development Department is responsible for leading CAD pattern development and end-to-end sample execution for Denim/Woven/ Outerwear products. The role ensures accurate pattern engineering, proper fit, optimized fabric utilization, and timely sample submission in line with buyer requirements and production feasibility.
JD :
- Ensure pattern compatibility with denim shrinkage, stretch, growth, skew, torque, and wash-down effects.
- Engineer patterns considering fabric GSM, weave structure, elastane %, recovery, and wash loss.
- Lead CAD systems (Gerber / Lectra / Optitex / Tukatech) with advanced utilization.
- Set marker efficiency benchmarks by style, fabric width, and wash category.
- Control fabric consumption accuracy for costing, booking, and bulk projection.
- Technically manage Proto, Fit, Salesman, Size Set, PPS, GPT, and Wash Development samples.
- Ensure sample engineering aligns with bulk sewing methods, wash recipes, finishing limitations, and machine capability.
- Validate SMV calculations, sewing feasibility, and line balancing assumptions.
- Ensure pattern and construction are optimized for production efficiency and cost targets.
- Validate construction sequence, stitch type, SPI, thread selection, and reinforcement points.
- Act as primary technical authority in buyer meetings, fit sessions, and audits.
- Translate buyer standards into factory-ready engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with Merchandising, IE, Production, Washing, QA, and Compliance teams
- Drive SOPs, technical training, and performance of CAD & sample teams.
