• Capacity Booking: Maintenance of 95%+ machine capacity utilization across all knitting and sewing lines throughout the year.
• On-Time In-Full (OTIF): Achievement of a minimum 98% OTIF shipment rate.
• Air Freight Ratio: Mitigation of factory-fault air freights, maintaining a target of 0%.
• Financial Target: Attainment of the division's annual gross revenue turnover target (typically USD 110M - 130M+).
Job Purpose
The General Manager of Marketing & Merchandising (Knit) is a strategic leadership role responsible for the overall commercial success of the knit garments division. This position drives global business development, manages profitable buyer relationships, and leads a large team of merchandising professionals. The ultimate goal is to optimize factory capacity utilization, secure high-margin orders, and ensure 100% on-time delivery across all circular knit product lines
Key Responsibilities & Performance Areas
1. Strategic Marketing & Global Business Development
• Buyer Onboarding: Identify, target, and secure direct business from tier-1 international fashion brands, retailers, and supermarkets.
• Market Diversification: Explore and penetrate new geographical markets (e.g., non-traditional markets like Australia, Japan, Brazil) to reduce regional dependency.
• Product Presentation: Lead the R&D and design teams to develop seasonal collections and present high-margin innovations to global buyers.
2. Financial Management & Price Negotiation
• FOB Price Finalization: Review, optimize, and approve ultimate Free on Board (FOB) price quotes for all product styles.
• Margin Protection: Keep a strict check on raw material market rates (yarn, dyes, chemicals) to protect a net factory profit margin of 8% to 12%.
• Financial Risk Management: Oversee commercial activities, auditing Letter of Credit (L/C) clauses, payment terms, and TT transfers to prevent financial defaults.
3. Knit Merchandising & Technical Oversight
• Material Optimization: Supervise advanced yarn booking projections, fabric structure feasibility (Single Jersey, Rib, Interlock, Fleece, Pique), and consumption calculations.
• T&A Compliance: Own the ultimate responsibility for the corporate Time & Action (T&A) Calendar from order placement to final ex-factory shipment.
• Risk Analysis: Conduct critical pre-production meetings to identify potential fabric, dyeing, or sewing bottlenecks before bulk cutting starts.
4. Supply Chain & Cross-Functional Coordination
• Sourcing Strategy: Direct the procurement team in sourcing premium, cost-effective yarn, specialized trims, and accessories from global and local vendor matrices.
• Factory Alignment: Coordinate closely with the GM of Factory Operations, Planning, and Quality Assurance to align daily sewing line allocations with buyer delivery expectations.
• Crisis Resolution: Step in as the final point of escalation to resolve critical buyer claims, quality shortfalls, or shipment delays.
5. Leadership & Team Development
• Team Structure: Structure and manage a multi-tiered department consisting of DGMs, AGMs, Senior Merchandisers, and Production Coordinators.
• KPI Accountability: Set clear monthly and annual performance metrics for the merchandising team and conduct regular evaluations.
