Job Context:
∎ VOICE is a right based research and advocacy organization working mainly on the issues of human rights-right to information and communication justice, privacy rights and data protection, freedom of expression, digital rights as well as around the issues of aid and development effectiveness, economic justice, food sovereignty, climate change, countering hate speech & misinformation, public health programme etc, both in Bangladesh and on a global scale for 20 years.
∎ To implement and work closely with Digital Right and Safety issues on increasing the digital security understanding and capacity of civil society VOICE is seeking applications for Digital Rights & Security Specialist from qualified candidates in an immediate basis. This is a full-time position for six months intending to start from First week of August 2021 with possibility of extension.
∎ Key Position Aims
∎ Develop digital security understanding and capacity building of individuals and civil society through digital safety trainings
∎ Manage the effective implementation of digital safety initiatives
∎ Promote the profile and importance of digital security issues
∎ Provide technical and security support to team members on a day-to-day basis
∎ Implement technical solutions to improve team security, coordination, operations, and program implementation
Job Responsibilities:
∎ PROJECT MANAGEMENT
∎ Lead the management and planning of a variety of consultations, trainings, and meetings on digital safety issues
∎ Oversee project logistics and monitor projects' progresses, including documentation, evaluation, and reporting
∎ Monitor project spending and work with the finance team to manage budgets
∎ Maintain and file documentation in an organised and efficient manner
∎ Develop workplans and timelines, and monitor their progress
∎ Manage or assist with digital security consultancies, including managing consultants
∎ STRATEGIC PLAN AND IMPLEMENTATION
∎ Contribute to the digital safety program strategy development
∎ Coordinate collaborative design and consultation processes with partners
∎ Lead relevant research and reporting
∎ Assist and provide leadership in developing the broader digital security field
∎ NETWORKING AND PARTNERSHIP BUILDING
∎ Develop and maintain partnerships with a range of individuals and organisations working in digital security and safety in the region
∎ Promote relevant materials and publications to civil society
∎ TRAININGS AND EVENT MANAGEMENT
∎ Coordinate and plan a variety of consultations, trainings, and meetings
∎ Develop and implement digital security networking and learning events
∎ Directly train individuals and civil society members
∎ Design training agendas and prepare and compile relevant training and educational resources
∎ Actively learn from the field, including documenting and sharing relevant knowledge
Additional Requirements:
∎ Must have 5 years' experience on Digital Rights and Safety project management, project planning & implementation
∎ Have solid understanding of digital rights and digital security concepts and implementation
∎ Highly adept and innovative in using current and emerging technologies
∎ Experience of advocacy, research, communication & networking and supervision, monitoring & evaluation of implementing programs in any reputed NGOs
∎ Must be fluent in English and have excellent report writing capacity both in Bangla & English
∎ Motivated, self-organised and active in taking initiative
∎ Familiarity working in online workplaces with decentralised teams
∎ Ability to coordinate a team, work under pressure, and deliver on deadlines
∎ Age shouldn't be more than 35 years
Salary:
∎ 40,000 BDT per month, no extra benefits.
