• Experience in managing data in large-scale field-based studies preferred.

• Experience working in public health research or NGO settings is highly desirable.

Data Management

• Strong knowledge of SQL databases (e.g., SQL Server, SQLite, MySQL, PostgreSQL).

• Experience in data cleaning and validation using Stata, R, or Python.

• Knowledge of database design principles and normalization.

• Familiarity with research data standards and ethical compliance.

Experience in dashboard development (Power BI or similar).

Android Development:

• Proficiency in Java or Kotlin for Android development.

• Experience developing custom Android applications.

• Experience integrating APIs and backend databases.

• Knowledge of offline-first architecture and secure data transmission.

• Familiarity with device management and deployment in low-resource settings.

Projahnmo Research Foundation (PRF) in association with Johns Hopkins University, USA has a long and illustrious history of conducting research in Bangladesh. PRF’s research has contributed to improvement of health of Bangladeshi citizens and has supported the career development of numerous Bangladeshi public health professionals. PRF is seeking qualified and motivated applicants from Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Data Manager.
Major Responsibilities

The Data Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, high-quality data management systems for public health research projects. The role includes hands-on expertise in developing various data collection systems and overseeing data collection, cleaning, validation, storage, and the creation of analytical data files, as well as report generation.

The incumbent will ensure data integrity, compliance with ethical and donor requirements, and support digital innovation in research activities.

1. Data Management & Governance:

• Coordinate with the study team to gain a thorough understanding of the field context and develop user-friendly data management systems for different levels of staff

• Collaborate with the investigators and project team to understand data needs and ensure that the expected data is captured, collated, analyzed, and presented in dashboards on a timely basis

• Work with the investigators and project team to develop the system in a way that facilitates the collection and compilation of routine data to track progress against all reportable indicators.

• Diligently strive to achieve the five data quality standards: validity, integrity, precision, reliability, and timeliness

• Develop and implement Data Management Plans (DMPs).

• Design and maintain databases (MS SQL Server and SQLite).

• Develop data dictionaries, CRFs, validation rules, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Prepare analytical data files

• Perform routine data quality checks and cleaning.

• Ensure data security, confidentiality, and compliance with ethical guidelines.

• Systematically archive data files. Maintain secure backup systems and disaster recovery plans.

2. Android Application Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain Android-based applications for field data collection.

• Implement real-time validation, skip logic, encryption, and synchronization features.

• Integrate Android applications with backend servers and central databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL).

• Conduct testing, debugging, and performance optimization of mobile applications.

• Provide technical support and updates for deployed field applications.

3. Field & System Implementation:

• Configure and manage tablets/mobile devices for field deployment.

• Train field staff and supervisors on digital data collection systems.

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot field-level issues.

• Coordinate with PI and study team for system improvements.

4. Reporting & Analytical Support:

• Generate routine data quality and performance reports.

• Support donor, PI, statisticians and study team with clean datasets for analysis (e.g., Stata, R, Python).

• Assist in dashboard development (Power BI or similar tools).

5. Team & Capacity Building:

• Supervise Programmer, Data Management Assistants.

• Develop and update SOPs related to digital data collection and management.

• Build internal capacity in digital health systems and mobile data platforms.
