Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB) is implementing the Orphan Sponsorship Programme (OSP) under the Orphans, Child Rights & Protection (OCRP) program across 09 OSP field offices in Bangladesh. Following the discontinuation of IR USA sponsorship support and the resulting reduction in the number of sponsored children, IRB has revised its Human Resource Plan for 2026 to ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining programme quality and compliance with donor and organizational standards.
The Community Mobilizer (CM) will work at the grassroots level to support the effective implementation of OSP activities, with a strong focus on Orphaned child sponsorship management, child protection, education, livelihood support and community mobilization. The role involves close communication and coordination with sponsored children, guardians/caregivers, community groups, schools and local authorities to ensure timely delivery of project activities, accurate data collection and safeguarding compliance. The position requires extensive field engagement, regular household visits, facilitation of community-based Self-help groups & Child-learning centres and reporting in line with Islamic Relief policies, procedures and core values.
Project/ Support function management & quality field implementation-70%
Collect Biodata of Orphaned children with required legal documents;
Form and make functional of SHGs & Apex body, consisting of the guardians of sponsored children;
Introduce group-led savings and Qard-al-Hasana (Interest free loan);
Ensure health check-up of sponsored children and their family members following guidelines & instructions;
Ensure SHG meetings weekly;
Take part in the awareness sessions of SHG meetings;
Arrange awareness sessions for guardians to increase nutritional practices through SHGs;
Ensure 100% enrollment of the sponsored children in educational institutes;
Create access to quality education for orphan children; Make regular school visits to ensure attendance of sponsored children;
Arrange and facilitate regular meetings with schoolteachers/SMC;
Form and make functional Child learning centers as well as child-led networks functional;
Observe relevant national & international day/event at field level;
Organize reunion program of guardians & children at field level;
Monitor WASH related activities of the sponsored families;
Ensure business plan at HHs level and 14+ sponsored children;
Increase annual sponsorship target coverage as per program management instruction and prepare bio-data of the child including photo;
Make caregivers and duty-bearers aware about orphan & vulnerable children to establish a safe and protective environment for them;
Visit households of sponsored children quarterly;
Arrange counseling sessions for the public examinees among sponsored children;
Collect data of post-sponsored children once in a year;
Collect wellbeing data of the sponsored children to measure progress;
Collect educational result cards and related documents;
Collect reply to donor’s letters from children;
Ensure the presence of all relevant documents in the personal files of the sponsored children
Capacity Building’ for beneficiaries-10%
Arrange like skill training for sponsored children/families;
Arrange skill development training for Income Generation activities;
Conduct leadership, group management/dynamics and financial management training for SHG leaders;
Networking and Communication-10%
Represent IR to Govt. counterparts at field level and play role in trust-building with key Govt. agencies as per the direction of program management.
Build networks and collaborate with local civil society movements for local level advocacy initiatives in coordination with program management as well as External Relations and Communication department
Reporting and Documentation-5%
Support in developing annual progress report by providing necessary information.
Collect most significant case/success studies.
Collect drawing & greeting cards, and preparation & translation while needed
Maintain proper processing documentation including files of sponsored children, event reports, visit reports, education reports, etc.
Others-5%
Participate & involve with seasonal programs (Ramadan, Qurbani, Winterization, etc.) activities.
Ensure that local purchases and expenditures are done as per Islamic Relief Bangladesh policy.
Maintain the stock book, inventory, and other essential registers properly and timely in an effective manner.
Support in the procurement of materials like requisition, follow-up, etc.
Take initiatives to ensure the security of project staff and participants during the intervention.
Willing and able to travel frequently for extended periods and to remote areas of the projects.
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, exploitation, Fraud, Bribery & Money Laundering to achieve the program’s goals of safeguarding implementation and as well as Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on the safeguarding of harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation, Fraud, Bribery & Money Laundering for establishing a safe working environment
