• Strong knowledge of chemical storage, MSDS interpretation, PPE and basic labelling/segregation rules.
• Experience with inventory systems (ERP or stock register) and physical stock counting.
• Good communication and coordination skills (production, procurement, quality, safety).
• Attention to detail and disciplined record keeping.
• Ability to supervise a small team and train junior staff.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, email, or ERP interface).

• Receive incoming chemical deliveries: check quantities, labels, batch numbers and delivery documents; report discrepancies to procurement. 
• Inspect packaging and perform quality/visual checks on received chemicals; quarantine any suspect materials. 
• Store chemicals according to segregation rules, compatibility charts and MSDS instructions (flammables, corrosives, oxidizers, etc.). 
• Maintain accurate inventory records (physical & system): record receipts, issues, returns and transfers; perform and lead regular stock counts/cycle counts. 
• Issue chemicals to production on request (timely, correct quantities) and ensure proper documentation (issue slips, batch traceability). 
• Implement FIFO / FEFO as applicable and monitor expiry dates; dispose/segregate expired materials per procedure. 
• Prepare, maintain and make available MSDS sheets and chemical labels; ensure labeling of opened containers. 
• Enforce personal protective equipment (PPE) use and store hygiene rules; ensure spill kits and safety equipment are available and in working order.
• Train store assistants on safe handling, storage rules and inventory procedures. 
• Coordinate with procurement on low-stock alerts, re-order levels and incoming deliveries. 
• Support internal/external audits: provide records, explain storage practices and implement corrective actions. 
• Maintain good housekeeping, fire safety checks and emergency response readiness in the chemical store.
• Report any incidents, near-misses, or non-conformities immediately and help implement corrective actions.
