Responsibilities & Context:
1. Surface Preparation
Cleaning & Sanding: Washing the vehicle, removing rust, and sanding surfaces to ensure optimal paint adhesion.
Masking: Covering areas, glass, trim, and mechanical parts with tape and protective film that should not receive paint.
Priming: Applying rust-proof undercoats and primers before the primary color layers.
2. Paint Mixing & Matching
Formulation: Using computerized paint mixing systems and spectrophotometers to create the exact manufacturer color code.
Testing: Spraying test cards and blending colors into adjacent body panels for seamless, invisible transitions.
Viscosity: Ensuring paints and clear coats are mixed to the exact consistency required for the spray equipment.
