Responsibilities & Context: Job Context:
The Assistant Manager – SCM will be responsible for supporting the entire supply chain process including procurement, inventory control, logistics, and vendor management. The incumbent must ensure the timely availability of materials, cost optimization, and smooth coordination among the purchase, warehouse, and production teams.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing:
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to procure raw materials, packaging items, and other supplies at competitive prices.
- Prepare purchase requisitions, RFQs, comparative statements, and purchase orders.
- Maintain supplier database, performance evaluation, and develop alternate sources to mitigate risks.
- Ensure quality, quantity, and timely delivery of materials as per production requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures.
Inventory & Warehouse Management:
- Monitor stock levels and ensure minimum inventory discrepancies.
- Plan and maintain optimum inventory to support uninterrupted production.
- Coordinate with store and accounts teams for GRN (Goods Received Note) and inventory reconciliation.
- Conduct periodic physical verification of stock and prepare inventory reports.
Logistics & Distribution:
- Supervise inbound and outbound logistics to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Maintain liaison with transport service providers and ensure proper documentation.
- Plan dispatch schedules, route optimization, and monitor freight cost.
Planning & Coordination:
- Support production and sales teams with material planning and forecasting.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly procurement & logistics plans based on demand analysis.
- Coordinate between procurement, accounts, and user departments for smooth supply chain operation.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure all SCM activities comply with company policy, internal control, and audit standards.
- Prepare and present periodic MIS reports on procurement, inventory, and logistics.
- Contribute to process improvement, cost reduction, and ERP implementation initiatives.
