• Strong knowledge of waterproofing technologies, safety footwear standards, and tactical product construction 

• Strong knowledge of testing protocols (slip resistance, electrical hazard, puncture resistance, insulation ratings) 

• Effective collaboration with material development, sourcing, QA, and production to avoid bottlenecks 

• Understanding of costing, sourcing, and vendor management

• Proficiency in tech pack creation, PLM systems, Excel, and presentation tools

Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context:

Assistant Manager-Product, Design Lab to manage and develop the assigned product portfolio by driving product development, material innovation, and technical compliance for waterproof, safety, and tactical products, ensuring products meet brand standards, performance benchmarks, and delivery timelines.

Job Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary product/development liaison for the account, managing day-to-day communication with brand partner teams

• Lead product development from concept to bulk approval — including sampling, costing, and fit/construction reviews

• Ensure all products meet required technical, safety, and performance standards (waterproofing, safety toe standards, slip resistance, insulation, tactical durability, etc.)

• Coordinate with material development, sourcing, and testing teams to select and validate waterproof membranes, safety components (toe caps, plates), and tactical-grade fabrics/hardware

• Manage sample development calendars and ensure on-time submission to buyers

• Track and resolve quality or compliance issues arising during development or production

• Analyze costing and negotiate with internal/external stakeholders to hit target pricing

• Prepare and present seasonal line plans, tech packs, and development status reports to management and brand partners

• Ensure compliance with relevant safety and performance certifications (e.g., safety toe standards, waterproof ratings, electrical hazard protection)

• Mentor and guide junior product/development executives on the team
