Job Context:

Assistant Manager-Material Development & Sourcing, Design Lab to support the development and qualification of high-quality, cost-effective materials that meet product design, performance, and compliance requirements — by coordinating closely with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and leadership to ensure materials are sourced, tested, and approved on time and in line with the organization's quality and business objectives.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support planning and execution of material development projects (new materials, fabric/component sourcing, or R&D depending on industry)

• Coordinate with suppliers/vendors for material sampling, testing, and approval

• Monitor material quality, cost, and lead times against project targets

• Liaise between design, sourcing, production, and QA teams to ensure material specs are met

• Track and maintain material databases, specification sheets, and approval records

• Assist in evaluating new materials/technologies for feasibility and cost-effectiveness.

• Support budget tracking and vendor negotiations

• Supervise and mentor junior team members/executives

• Prepare reports and presentations for management review
