Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management or a relevant discipline.
MBA/Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics will be an advantage.
Job Purpose
To support and manage logistics and freight-related activities by coordinating transportation operations, transporter and service-provider management, freight procurement, commercial evaluation, vendor onboarding, agreement management, rate negotiation and logistics cost control. The role will ensure efficient and cost-effective movement of products, materials and shipments through appropriate transportation and freight arrangements while maintaining service quality, compliance, documentation and adherence to company policies and approved commercial terms.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day logistics and transportation operations to ensure timely and efficient movement of products, materials and shipments between plants, depots, warehouses, ports and other designated locations.
Coordinate local and international freight arrangements, including road, sea, air, and other applicable transportation modes, based on shipment requirements, timelines, product characteristics and cost considerations.
Source, evaluate, and onboard transporters, freight forwarders and logistics service providers by assessing their capabilities, service coverage, capacity, commercial terms, compliance, and operational track record.
Obtain and analyze freight and transportation quotations, prepare comparative statements, benchmark rates and support management in selecting suitable service providers and transportation options.
Negotiate and finalize transportation and freight rates and commercial terms with service providers, ensuring competitive pricing, appropriate service levels and alignment with approved company requirements.
Review and coordinate logistics-related agreements and contracts, including rates, payment terms, service levels, liabilities, validity, renewal and other commercial conditions, in coordination with Procurement, Legal, Finance and relevant stakeholders.
Plan and coordinate vehicle deployment, shipment schedules, loading/unloading and delivery activities while monitoring vehicle utilization, route performance, delivery status, delays, idle time and empty trips.
Monitor and control logistics and freight costs, including transportation, freight, fuel, tolls, loading/unloading, port and handling charges and other related expenses and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
Verify transporter, freight forwarder and logistics service-provider bills and claims against approved rates, agreements, trip records, delivery documents, quotations and other supporting documents before processing.
Monitor vendor and service-provider performance against agreed rates, service levels, timelines, compliance requirements and contractual obligations and coordinate corrective actions where necessary.
Maintain accurate logistics and commercial documentation and records, including vendor documents, agreements, rate sheets, comparative statements, trip records, shipment documents, freight records and other relevant information, while ensuring compliance with company policies, SOPs and applicable regulations.
Prepare regular logistics and freight reports and dashboards covering transportation activities, freight rates, vendor performance, delivery status, vehicle utilization, logistics costs, cost-saving initiatives, pending issues and other relevant KPIs for management review.
