Responsibilities & Context:

Functional Activities:

  • Oversee the timely achievement of milestones for design and analysis within the allocated budget.

  • Undertake feasibility studies of project locations and develop the design accordingly.

  • Review work of engineers to ensure adherence to prescribed design standards and quality.

  • Design as well as provide specialist inputs pertaining to Design & analysis.

  • Ensure project planning and monitoring including all clearances and regulations for the project are available as needed.

  • Ensure design for the projects as per standard engineering practice.

  • Upkeep all the calculations and design data to be preserved for future references or vetting by consultant/Advisor.

  • Review BOQ and forward it to Function: Project Engineering (Technical) for RFQ.

  • Drive the analysis and suggest quality and economic options for project works based on analysis.

  • Act as the point of any issue escalation regarding design & analysis of the projects.

  • Ensure analysis of new items and non-tender items.

  • Provide support for improving work schedule, reducing cost, improving quality and ensuring adherence of safety guidelines and procedures at workplace.

  • Identify potential safety issues through hazard identification and suggest improvement areas and take preventive measures to reduce safety risk pertaining to legal provision.

Leadership, Talent and Culture Development:

  • Attract and develop talent in the steel business.

  • Direct the process of effective department performance, overseeing performance management, recruitment, training and development of staff to ensure high level of engagement and motivated work environment. 

  • Engage and mentor direct reports to prepare them for larger and higher roles with BSRM.

  • Promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Manage counselling and grievances of reportees.

  • Manage attendance and leave of reportees.

  • Ensure appropriate allocation of workload to reportees to enable work-life balance.

Coordination:

  • Coordinate with internal key personnel for sourcing data/information required for project work.

  • Coordinate with Budgeting, Compliance and Project Planning for negotiation and selection of vendor and sourcing cost for analysis.
