Job Context:
∎ This role supports the right first time delivery of Design Strategy that keeps Tu clothing relevant for all its customers.
∎ You will be obsessed with delivering product to surprise, delight and exceed our customers` expectations, ensuring a consistent approach in all our channels.
∎ You will do this by supporting the Designer and the Design Category owners in the Global Design Team, providing creative support and supplier communication in the creation and development of innovative product ranges for the Tu Clothing customer base.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ What you need to do
∎ Responsible for supporting the Senior Designers and Designers with development and delivery of the Design Strategy within by assisting with detailed design pack generation and direct actioning to suppliers, driving innovation and sharing supplier intel to our global design team.
∎ Support the Designers by liaising with suppliers to ensure delivery and tracking of right first-time developments, in line with critical path.
∎ Undertake design research online comp shops and create trend reports for the team.
∎ Colour management of Pantones and Sainsbury's colour standards.
∎ Provide CAD support for key meetings as required and be responsible for upkeep of design/artwork files.
∎ Know our customer - design with the customer at the heart of every product decision. Work with customer profile boards and ensure our suppliers understand our brand handwriting.
∎ Ensure you are aware of all legal & ethical regulations and comply with these by keeping up to date with Sainsburys learning and development programmes.
∎ Partner with Global Sourcing to build strong relationships with Global Supply Base to spot product opportunities.
∎ Manage and record sample hit rate.
∎ Seek out inspiration from external sources and resources e.g. trend books, trade fairs, inspirational shops, museums, galleries etc as well as desktop research.
∎ Be a champion for sustainability through both how we do things and the product we deliver.
∎ With guidance and support from Designer, design and develop commercial, innovative product within price, quality and customer frameworks.
∎ Liaise with the Category admins to ensure all general design administration and creative support for Global Design Team is covered.
∎ Prepare for, attend, and take notes at appropriate meetings and be able to work effectively via digital and remote communication with Global teams.
∎ Have a strong awareness and understanding of UK and Western trend from Value driven to high end
∎ Have awareness of fabrications and production processes.
∎ What you need to know & show
∎ Ideally have 2 years + experience of working for a supplier or brand retailing in the UK
∎ Demonstrate a strong understanding of Kidswear design and product development for the UK market across multi bases - woven, true knit and jersey.
∎ A good understanding of the broader UK market, constantly open to seeking new opportunities that create competitive advantage, as well as having an understanding of International retail dynamics that influence UK customer behaviour.
∎ Ideally have experience in product design and development in a retail industry with relevant technical knowledge for Clothing and knowledge of manufacturing processes and working with suppliers, including product and cost engineering.
∎ Computer literate with the ability to use Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to a high standard.
∎ Show capability to be a strategic thinker who puts the customer at the heart of decision-making, striking the balance between driving business metrics & longer-term objectives.

∎ Make recommendations and production options for product design trends and developments, for sign off by Designer / Senior Designer.
∎ Delivery of design packs.
∎ Sample development tracking management
