Responsibilities & Context:

Asset Maintenance & PM Infrastructure Management

• Manage and execute preventive maintenance (PM) and autonomous maintenance (AM) for high-value making assets (e.g., Vacuum Mixers, High-Shear Homogenizers, Slurry Tanks, and Transfer Pumps).

• Act as the first responder for mechanical failures, seal leaks, or agitation faults to minimize batch losses and maintain production flow.

• Maintain rigorous maintenance logs and update equipment history, including MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) data and component replacement logs, within the CMMS or ERP.

Cleaning, Sanitation (C&S) & Operational Integrity

• Monitor the effectiveness of Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) and Sterilization-In-Place (SIP) cycles, ensuring temperature, detergent concentration, and flow rates meet validated hygiene standards.

• Oversee Changeover (CO) activities, utilizing SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) principles to ensure rapid and accurate transitions between different product formulations.

• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for mechanical breakdowns, contamination excursions, or batch deviations and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

Process Improvement & System Commissioning

• Plan and execute technical projects, such as the installation of improved mechanical seals, upgrading PLC/HMI interfaces, or commissioning new mixing units.

• Coordinate with OEMs and specialized contractors for vessel pressure testing (hydro-tests), valve calibrations, and the integration of new transfer piping.

• Ensure all maintenance and changeover projects are completed within budget, meet GMP/Hygienic Design codes, and align with plant OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) targets.

Consumables & Changeover Parts Management

• Track inventory for critical changeover parts (gaskets, seals, specialized valves) and PM consumables (food-grade lubricants, cleaning agents) to avoid operational delays.

• Ensure proper storage and handling of changeover kits, ensuring they are sanitized, labeled, and staged according to the production schedule.

Safety, GMP & Regulatory Compliance

• Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and machine safeguarding standards during all maintenance and changeover activities.
