Job Context: We are looking for a talented and self-motivated Database Developer (CBS Application Support) to join our Core Banking System (CBS) Database team. The selected candidate will work closely with the on-site Project Manager and maintain a dotted-line relationship with the Development Team Lead / Head of Delivery for handling complex or cross-functional issues.

The role requires the ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in real-time, ensuring minimal disruption to banking operations. The candidate must be capable of delivering immediate solutions independently or in collaboration with the core development team. Additionally, the candidate should possess strong customer management skills, maintaining a professional, responsive, and collaborative relationship with clients.

Job Responsibilities

• Should understand the issues raised by CBS users quickly and clearly, and identify the underlying business logic including reasons such as system bugs, user mistakes, data inconsistencies, or configuration issues.

• Analyze and determine the exact root cause of issues through debugging, data analysis, and detailed investigation of database activities within CBS database tables.

• Troubleshoot and provide timely solutions using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL within agreed SLA.

• Ensure proper validation and testing after fixing any issue to confirm that all related functional aspects are fully resolved.

• Monitor and track issue status regularly (fixed, in-progress, on-hold) and maintain continuous follow-up with stakeholders and customers.

• Develop and maintain efficient SQL queries and PL/SQL objects (procedures, functions, packages, triggers, record, types) to support various reporting requirements.

• Provide on-the-spot solutions whenever possible, either independently or by coordinating with the core development team.

• Coordinate effectively with internal teams (development, DBA, project management) to provide quick solutions in challenging situations or with demanding clients.

• Write and maintain complex, high-performance SQL queries and PL/SQL programs including packages, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to meet customer requirement.

• Perform SQL & PL/SQL code optimization to improve system performance and reduce execution time of banking application processes.

• Identify and resolve database-related issues such as row locks, slow queries, and performance bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with DBA team in managing database objects such as tables, indexes, partitions, tablespaces, and ensuring proper data quality and integrity.

• Perform database performance tuning including memory and CPU utilization, I/O optimization, and contention handling.

• Review and recommend improvements to existing database queries, procedures, and overall system performance.

• Assist in the design, development, and integration of database-driven applications to meet business requirements.
