Required Technical Skills & Knowledge

Networking Fundamentals

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, OSI Model, DNS, DHCP, and NAT.
• Hands-on experience with routing and switching concepts.
• Working knowledge of VLANs, subnetting, trunking, and STP.

Network Devices

• Experience working with enterprise or SMB-grade routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Practical knowledge of networking equipment from vendors such as MikroTik, Cisco, Ubiquiti, TP-Link, or Fortinet.

Security & VPN

• Experience configuring firewalls and managing security rules.
• Hands-on experience with site-to-site and remote access VPNs.
• Understanding of common network security threats and basic mitigation techniques.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

• Experience using network monitoring tools to analyze bandwidth, latency, and packet loss.
• Proficiency with troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, and packet capture.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve both ISP-level and internal network issues.

Wireless Networking

• Experience in office Wi-Fi network design and performance optimization.
• Ability to configure access points and troubleshoot wireless interference issues.

Servers & Services (Basic Knowledge Preferred)

• Basic experience integrating networks with Windows and Linux servers.
• Understanding of networking requirements for VoIP systems, CCTV, and cloud-based applications.

Job Context

Byte Trek Limited is a growing technology and BPO services company serving international clients. We are looking for a skilled Network Engineer to design, maintain, monitor, and secure our office network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across all departments.

This role is critical to supporting our call center, operations, and IT teams with stable connectivity and secure systems.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain office LAN, WAN, and Office WiFi

• Install, configure, and manage network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, access points)

• Monitor network performance, uptime, bandwidth usage, latency, and packet loss

• Troubleshoot network issues related to connectivity, VPNs, routing, switching, and firewalls

• Manage VPN tunnels (site-to-site and client VPNs) and ensure secure remote access

• Implement and maintain network security policies, firewall rules, and access controls

• Work with ISPs to resolve internet, bandwidth, and routing issues

• Maintain network documentation, diagrams, IP addressing schemes, and configurations

• Ensure network readiness for VoIP, CCTV, servers, and cloud services

• Assist with network upgrades, expansion, and scalability planning

• Provide support during peak hours and critical incidents when required

• Coordinate with system administrators and management on IT infrastructure planning
