• Analyze issues: SEO specialists must be able to evaluate problems and determine the resources necessary to develop effective solutions.

• Manage clients: Though professionals in this field alter sites to meet certain standards, they must also consider the objectives and business strategies of the individual client.

• Coding and programming: Truly effective SEO specialists have experience working in CSS, HTML and several other programming languages. Besides a background in coding, they can also be familiar with various hardware platforms and operating systems.

• Maintain knowledge of search engines: This is arguably one of the more important aspects of this position. SEO specialists must stay up-to-date on the various parameters that search engines are employing to make effective design choices.

• Generate content: SEO specialists often produce the graphical, informational and textual content found on a webpage to ensure that it performs well within search engines.

• Optimize keywords: Researching and utilizing keywords in a way that seems natural is an important aspect of search engine optimization.

• Evaluate websites: Before rebuilding or redesigning a site, the SEO specialist must analyze the content, formatting, backlinks and keywords that are already in place. This allows them to determine what changes to make in order to reach current standards for search engine optimization.
