∎ Job Purpose:
∎ Responsible to identify and design context specific, resilient and inclusive WASH technologies and integrated water resource management (IWRM) approach for household, community and institution level in consideration of geo-hydrological situation, climatic condition and socio-economic aspects of barind region to reach SDG 6 targets; prepare ToR for hiring professionals, technical guidelines and develop the capacity of the field staff/ stakeholders on proper installation and operation & maintenance of WASH technologies; innovate new and appropriate WASH technological options for barind region through extensive action research (e.g. geo-hydrological issues, climate parameters, users willingness, green environment) to combat the challenges of climate change impact and recurrent disaster.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Prepare action plan, identify and design the context specific, resilient and inclusive WASH technologies and Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) approach considering the geo-hydrological situation, climatic condition and socio-economic aspects of Barind region.
∎ Develop appropriate technological options and innovative ideas, demonstration of water supply and waste water recycling interventions for hydro-geological context of Barind region for household, community and institution level through conducting action research jointly with external partners.
∎ Take part in conducting survey and needs assessments considering different parameters of geo-hydrology, climate parameters, users willingness, etc. of Barind areas for promoting green environment, and produce detailed technical reports in collaboration with other colleagues of the WASH team.
∎ Review the overall drawing and specifications of WASH technologies in Barind region, perform overall quality control of the infrastructure development related work (budget, estimate, schedule, implementation, etc.) and report regularly on project status.
∎ Enhance skills of the field staffs of the field staff on integrated water resource management and innovative technological solutions (e.g. MAR, Rain Water Harvesting, Piped Water Network, Waste Water Recycling, etc.) at household, community and institution level in Barind region.
∎ Develop training module and conduct technical skill development trainings on appropriate technologies including sustainable operation and maintenance (O&M) for staff, private sector entrepreneurs, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
∎ Support the communication team of WASH programme in preparing technical guidelines on installation and O&M of water supply and waste water management technologies, prepare periodic technical reports, ToR, SOP for monitoring and follow-up, etc. and other technical document for the pilot project in Barind region.
∎ Conduct regular field visit, talk with target beneficiaries and concerned stakeholders for identificating and documenting the inherent challenges of water supply in Barind region and provide technical input to the funding raising team in developing project proposal & budget for future grants initiatives.
∎ SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 05 years demonstrated working experience in engineering field, preferably in integrated water resource management and development of WASH infrastructure
∎ Excellent knowledge on programme implementation & geo-hydrological aspects
∎ Good Understanding on climatic elements and impact in different region
∎ Knowledge on quantity and quality of water needs for different purposes and integrated water resources management
∎ Knowledge about WASH related technologies and on operations in selected areas
∎ Understanding of strategic and technical aspects of WASH
∎ Skills in strategic thinking, PowerPoint presentation, excel and report writing
∎ Good communication skills in both English and Bangla
