Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Apparel Manufacturing, Fashion Design, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years experiences in denim product development.

  • Experience working with international buyers/brands.

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of denim washing, fabric sourcing and costing.

  • Good written & verbal communication skills.

  • Sound working knowledge on MS Office Package.

  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills.

  • Capability to work under pressure.



Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context:

The Denim Product Developer is responsible for leading the development of denim products from concept to production. This role ensures that product design, fabric selection, costing, sampling, and production feasibility meet customer requirements, quality standards, and target delivery timelines. The position works closely with buyers, design teams, washing units, and production teams to deliver innovative and commercially viable denim products.

Job Responsibilities

A) DENIM PRODUCT / PROCESS KNOWLEDGE

  • Lead the development of denim products from concept, design, and sampling to bulk production.

  • Review buyer tech packs and ensure accurate interpretation for product development.

  • Coordinate with design, merchandising, and technical teams to develop new denim styles.

  • Ensure sample development timelines are met.

  • Work closely with fabric mills and washing units to develop new denim fabrics and wash techniques.  Ensure fabric performance meets buyer specifications.

  • Work with technical teams to resolve fit and construction issues.

  • Work with merchandising teams to achieve target costing / costing knowledge.

  • Suggest alternative fabrics or processes to meet price targets.

  • Propose new developments to strengthen the company’s denim portfolio.

B) WASH KNOWLEDGE / FABRIC KNOWLEDGE

  • Monitor global denim trends, fabrics, washes, and innovations.

  • Develop and approve fabric quality, shade, shrinkage, and washing effects.

  • Analyze garment construction and washing processes to ensure cost-effective development. 

C) MAINTAINING GOOD COMUNICATION & RELATIONSHIP WITH BUYER & SUPPLIER

  • Ensuring the correct reply of all buyers’ mail within the same day or in some cases very next day. Correct and Quick reply is the key in business success.

  • Maintain good & healthy relationships with buyers via verbal and personal communication.

  • Present the upcharge or technical difficulties of the orders with logical & technical explanation to get best output for company from buyer.

  • Ensure to raise/heads-up of production problem or delivery prepone/ postpone well in advance of the delivery date to buyer so that can get waiver or extension on that issue or take corrective action timely to ensure order shipment takes place in smooth way.

  • Maintain & raise the liabilities of the order during the order placement to get the effective and settle result of the liabilities.

  • Sending the correct and updated buy plan to supplier on time after checking.

  • Coordinate with Merchandising, Fabric Sourcing, Washing, Production and Quality Team.

  • Negotiate price with supplier for critical embellishments like sublimation, dip dye, over dye and special accessories with correct and competitive price. Ensure business team should place order accordingly.

  • In case of CMT/CM orders you must ensure all the booking and payment to concern suppliers on time. As well as monitoring the in-house date of all goods also.

D) ENSURE HEALTHY & WARM ATMOSPHARE IN TEAM.

  • Ensure the correct work distribution among the team members to get the best output from team members.

  • Train the team members in correct and effective way

  • Help to solve the problem in working area of teammate so that members can work at full swing and motivated

  • Motivate the teammates in correct and effective way to achieve best output with minimum input.

  • Find out/sort out the easiest way of working on each process so the specific job can be done within the shortest time in effective way

  • Identify skill gaps within the team and implement training or corrective measures to improve performance

  • Help to perceive the training or related improvement program for the team mate to increase the professional or process related skill

  • Maintain month wise indecent or performance report for the teammate

  • Place proposal of the promotion or demotion to supervisor on the basis on individual performance.

E) MAINTAIN THE OFFICE RULES AND REGULATION

  • Follow the office decorum and policy of company

  • Maintain good relationships with team and the other dept. of company to make smooth working arena.

  • Take effective part in the official working process and provide effective suggestions when required.

  • Keep warm and good relationship with other concern dept. of the office to do job in ab at smooth and friendly manner.
