• Diploma/ Bachelor’s in Civil engineering from a reputed institute

• Experience Requirement: Minimum 3 years working experience with NGOs or international development organizations and at least 2 years’ experience in the urban WASH project, climate adaptation project or programme is mandatory. Field experience in working with municipalities, city corporations and private sector actors.

• Additional Job Requirements:

• Engineering software (AutoCad and others)

• Good knowledge of community mobilization and sanitizations and skills transfer.

• Technical knowledge regarding water and sanitation options for low-income urban areas.

• Knowledge about civil, plumbing and electrical works

• Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment.

About the Project:

The BRAC Urban Development Programme has initiated a project titled “Strengthening Urban Resilience Services for Vulnerable Communities in Seven Climate-Affected Cities.” The project aims to ensure that climate-vulnerable communities, particularly women and other intersectional groups gain improved access to resilient infrastructure and develop the capacity to ensure proper operation and maintenance (O&M). This initiative seeks to reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate-related hazards such as flooding, heatwaves, and waterlogging. The project will start from June 01, 2026. The duration of this project will be for one year.

Position: Senior Officer, Infrastructure Development; Urban Development Programme (Project Staff)

Job Purpose: To provide technical support for the installation of climate resilient WASH technologies considering the social, environmental and geographical needs.

Job Location : Anywhere in Bangladesh (UDP field office)

Job Description:

• Develop drawings and specifications in preparation of contractor scope. Identify and support implementation of climate resilient Urban WASH/ infrastructures.

• Involve in the selection of appropriate sites for construction of facilities.

• Ensure quality control of the infrastructure development related work (budget, estimate, schedule, plans, worker’s performance) and report regularly on project status. Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions.

• Interact daily with the clients (mason, workers, CDO members) to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.

• Check the work done by the contractors and recommend any modifications (if required).

• Ensure material quality through testing necessary samples and keeping the record of the project document and any other related documents.

• Support Regional Manager in preparing monthly progress reports.

• Participate in workshops and training in climate adaptive WASH technologies for acquired knowledge and skills.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
