  • Practice as lawyer at least 5 years, 07 ( seven) years’ experience in Land Management

  • Ability to write a plaint, written statement and any kind of application to submit before the court.

  • Strong ability to conduct civil suits.

  • Ability to vet land documents and give legal opinions in writing.

  • Practicing knowledge as an Advocate in Bangladesh Supreme Court and Judge Court.

  • Specially deep knowledge on land as a practicing lawyer and also as a corporate lawyer.

  • Computer knowledge i.e. MS word, Excel, PowerPoint etc

  • Demonstrates the ability to navigate complex client environments and effectively solve related challenges. Accountability :Takes ownership of decisions and manages resources efficiently

  • Submission and dealing with every matter as an expert lawyer.

  • Ability to think strategically and carry out assigned tasks independently

  • Working to high pressure and tight deadlines while at the same time

  • Facilitating and encouraging open communication in the team, communicating effectively

  • Learning and sharing knowledge and encourage the learning of others;

  • Proactive, highly motivated and able to use initiative to a significant degree

Job Purpose
This position is responsible to oversee land-related legal matters of BRAC Estate by ensuring compliance, managing risks and disputes, and safeguarding land assets through effective legal support and coordination.
Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the legal team to identify legal and operational risks related to BRAC Estate, and keep management informed to enable timely and appropriate actions.

  • Manage compliance issues related to land and associated legal matters, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.

  • Lead and coordinate the resolution of land-related disputes and litigations through court proceedings and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), prioritizing BRAC’s best interests.

  • Maintain strong liaison with panel lawyers, High Court/Supreme Court advocates, the judiciary, government offices, and regulatory authorities for effective legal support and case handling.

  • Ensure proper vetting and preparation of legal documents, including plaints, written statements, petitions, and case reports, along with timely collection and submission of required documents.

  • Supervise land vetting, ownership verification, and legality checks through relevant government offices, and provide clear written legal opinions on land transactions.

  • Provide legal support for mutation processes and record-related issues, while ensuring accurate and up-to-date maintenance of land case data in ERP/land management systems.

  • Protect BRAC land from encroachment or unlawful claims by proactively identifying risks and initiating necessary legal actions.

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
