At least 8 years of professional experience in database design, development, management, and administration, including experience in software development, information analysis, and documentation, preferably within government or development project settings.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role or specializing in database design, normalization, performance tuning, and security.

At least 6 years of recent hands-on experience in SQL Administration from MS SQL Server 2008 R2 onwards.
Installation, configuration, administration, and security hardening of SQL Server. Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
Good understanding of proper disk and storage configuration for database servers, including separation of: Data files, Transaction log files, TempDB, and Backups
Awareness of different storage types (local disks, SAN, NAS, SSD) and their performance characteristics.
Knowledge of RAID levels and their suitability for database workloads (e.g., RAID 10 for data and logs).
Understanding of disk allocation unit size, file system selection (NTFS/ReFS), and their impact on database performance.
Ability to monitor disk usage, I/O performance, and capacity growth, and proactively recommend improvements.
Experience coordinating with infrastructure teams to ensure optimal storage setup and capacity
Experience with SQL Server in both physical & virtual environments.
Familiarity with backups, restores, and recovery models.
Experience utilizing various high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance, including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes.
Tuning T-SQL queries to improve performance. Finding DMV queries to answer questions about server-level performance.
