Experience:
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Disaster Management, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Social Work, Anthropology or relevant subject.

Experience in climate resilience, disaster management, water governance, or natural resource management preferred.

Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Project Officer for the "Growing Awareness for Rights, Development, Education, Empowerment and Nurturing – (GARDEN)"
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
The Project Officer will support the effective implementation of an integrated education, child protection, gender equality, and climate resilience project across ten schools and surrounding communities in Tala Sadar Union, Satkhira. The Project Officer will work closely with schools, School Management Committees (SMCs), Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), adolescents, caregivers, community leaders, government departments, and local child protection actors to ensure timely, high-quality, and inclusive project implementation.
Project Implementation
• Coordinate day-to-day implementation of project activities in assigned schools and communities.
• Ensure timely delivery of education, child protection, gender equality, and climate resilience interventions.
• Facilitate establishment and strengthening of school-based child protection and adolescent clubs.
• Ensure inclusion of girls, Dalit children, children with disabilities, and other marginalized groups in all project activities.
• Maintain activity implementation schedules and ensure project milestones are achieved.
Education Programme Support
• Support remedial learning, bridge education, and foundational literacy and numeracy interventions.
• Coordinate Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and school readiness activities where applicable.
• Organize teacher capacity-building sessions on child-centered pedagogy, inclusive education, classroom management, safeguarding, and climate education.
• Support school improvement planning and implementation.
• Monitor student attendance, retention, and learning progress.
• Coordinate distribution of education materials and learning support packages.
Child Protection and Gender
• Facilitate awareness sessions on child rights, child protection, child marriage prevention, child labor prevention, gender equality, and safeguarding.
• Strengthen community-based child protection mechanisms and referral pathways.
• Coordinate case identification and referral of children at risk of abuse, exploitation, violence, child labor, or child marriage.
• Promote meaningful participation of children and adolescents in project activities.
Community Mobilization
• Mobilize parents, caregivers, religious leaders, community leaders, and local influencers to support children's education.
• Organize community dialogue sessions, awareness campaigns, courtyard meetings, and social behavior change activities.
• Facilitate parenting education sessions on positive parenting, education, child protection, and gender equality.
Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)
• Coordinate school-based disaster preparedness activities.
• Support development and updating of School Disaster Management Plans.
• Organize simulation drills, early warning awareness sessions, and climate resilience campaigns.
• Promote child-centered disaster risk reduction practices.
• Coordinate small-scale climate resilience initiatives within schools.
Other Responsiilities
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Coordinator to ensure effective project implementation.
