Experience:
Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Rural Development, Environmental Science, or a related field.
At least 3–5 years of professional experience in agriculture, livelihood development, or rural development programmes.
Experience in leading field teams and managing participatory data systems.
Experience in climate-smart agriculture, market systems development, or value chain development will be an advantage.
Experience working with government extension systems and community-based organizations will be preferred.
Strong knowledge of agriculture practices and climate-resilient farming techniques.
Experience in training facilitation, farmer engagement, and capacity building.
Understanding of market systems and value chain development.
Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to manage data, reporting, and field monitoring

Uttaran invites applications for the vacant position titled- Officer – Agriculture and Livelihood for the " Actions to Climate Change Ensuring Sustainable Solutions (ACCESS) Project"
Reports to: Project Operation Manager
Key Responsibilities:
The Officer – Agriculture and Livelihood will support the implementation of climate-resilient agriculture, market systems development, and livelihood interventions under the ACCESS Project. The position will focus on promoting climate-smart agriculture (CSA), strengthening Climate Information Service (CIS) use in farming, improving market access, and enhancing income opportunities for smallholder farmers and producer groups.
Technical Support to Agriculture and Livelihood Interventions
Provide technical support for implementation of climate-resilient agriculture and livelihood activities.
Promote Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) practices and technologies suitable to local contexts.
Support identification, validation, and scaling up of CSA practices in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Facilitate integration of Climate Information Services (CIS) into agricultural planning and decision-making.
Coordinate with government line departments such as DAE, BARI, and BRRI for technical guidance and service delivery.
Support development of operational plans, guidelines, and implementation strategies for agriculture and livelihood components.
Capacity Building of project stakeholders
Support identification and engagement of Local Service Providers (LSPs) and agriculture extension actors.
Organize and facilitate training sessions for LSPs, producer groups, and farmers on CSA practices and technologies.
Assist in development of training modules and learning materials on climate-resilient agriculture.
Promote farmer field demonstrations and practical learning approaches.
Strengthen capacity of farmers on climate-informed decision making and adaptive practices.
Market Systems Development and Livelihood Promotion
Support market assessment and mapping to identify demand, supply gaps, and value chain opportunities.
Facilitate linkages between farmers, wholesalers, and market actors.
Organize market negotiation meetings between producer groups and buyers.
Support development of market-oriented production planning based on demand.
Promote fair pricing mechanisms and market transparency through regular follow-up.
Assist in strengthening agriculture-based livelihood opportunities for smallholder farmers and youth.
Input Support and Service Delivery
Support identification and distribution of quality agricultural inputs for CSA practices.
Facilitate access to extension services, advisory support, and agricultural technologies.
Coordinate with private sector actors for input supply and service provision.
Monitor effective utilization of inputs and provide technical follow-up support.
Community Engagement and Awareness
Facilitate community-level campaigns and awareness activities on climate-resilient agriculture and sustainable livelihoods.
Promote adoption of improved practices through demonstrations, field days, and exposure visits.
Support engagement of youth and women in agriculture and livelihood initiatives.
Strengthen community understanding of climate risks and adaptive agricultural solutions.
Institutional Coordination and Partnerships
Maintain coordination with relevant government agencies including Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), and local government institutions.
Facilitate coordination meetings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations.
Support development of MoUs and partnerships with public and private sector actors.
Promote collaboration between farmers, service providers, private sector, and government institutions.
Monitoring, Reporting and Learning
Support monitoring of agriculture and livelihood interventions and ensure quality implementation.
Maintain records of trainings, meetings, input distribution, and farmer adoption.
Track progress on CSA adoption, productivity, and income improvements.
Contribute to preparation of progress reports, case studies, and learning documents.
Coordinate with the MEAL team to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)
Ensure Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles are integrated into agriculture and livelihood interventions.
Promote participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and marginalized farmers in training and livelihood activities.
Ensure equitable access to agricultural inputs, services, and market opportunities.
Competencies
Strong knowledge of agriculture practices and climate-resilient farming techniques.
