Skills:
The person should be someone who enjoys working directly with artisans in the field rather than sitting in an office.
Background in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Product Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Comfortable travelling frequently and working closely with artisan communities.
Good sense of colour, materials, styling, and craftsmanship.
Organized, proactive, and able to solve production challenges independently.
Passionate about handmade products and artisan-led development.
Responsibilities & Context:
The Junior Designer/Production Coordinator will work closely with artisans under the Shotta project to support product design, coordinate production, maintain quality standards, source raw materials, and monitor timely delivery. The role requires regular field visits to artisan communities and close coordination with the head office to ensure efficient production and high-quality handcrafted products.
Key Responsibilities:
Visit artisan homes and production clusters regularly (almost every working day).
Work closely with artisans to improve product quality, finishing, and consistency.
Train artisans on production processes, cleanliness, quality control, and professional standards.
Support product development, colour selection, styling, and design execution.
Prepare BOQs and ensure artisans understand production requirements.
Source and purchase raw materials from the appropriate markets and suppliers.
Monitor timelines and production progress.
Collect finished products and ensure they meet our quality standards before delivery.
Submit a short progress update to the head office every week.
