Experience:
Clinical Assessment & Patient Care
Perform comprehensive vital signs assessments on admission (e.g. temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, weight). And sorting of patient as per triage category.
Identify and escalate critical warning signs (e.g., hypo/hyperthermia, hypo/hypertension, tachycardia/bradycardia, altered consciousness, dehydration, convulsions, vomiting, diarrhea, edema).
Identify and assess children with SAM/MAM using MUAC, weight-for-height, and clinical signs
Provide dressing, wound care and post-operative care for trauma/ admitted patients.
Provide emergency interventions including CPR, recovery positioning, airway management, and notify the medical manager immediately.
Monitor patients on IV therapy, ensuring correct flow rates, site integrity, and signs of fluid overload.
Manage patients with devices such as gastric tubes or urinary catheters, ensuring proper placement and cleanliness.
Support patient nutrition and assist with feeding as required.
Expertise to operate advanced/ specialized equipments including:
Cardiac monitors
CPAP/ BIPAP machines
Syringe /Infusion pumps
Ventilators (invasive and non-invasive) whenever available
2. Infection Control & Patient Safety
Follow hand hygiene and PPE protocols.
Properly segregate medical waste ,Safely dispose of medical waste and prepare disinfectants.
Preparing disinfectant solutions following doses, dilution and usage conditions
Cleaning,decontaminating and disinfecting patient areas ,instruments and equipment used instruments according to the protocol
Promote IPC awareness among patients and attendants.
Perform autoclaving of medical instruments and materials following standard sterilization procedures
Maintain autoclave equipment and ensure proper documentation of sterilization cycles
Maintain aseptic technique during procedures and wound care.
Maintain personal hygiene of patients, including access to their cleanliness and clean bedding.
3. Medication Administration
Administer medications accurately, verifying dosage, route, timing, and expiration.
Apply proper technique for oral, topical, and injectable medications in line with infection prevention protocols.
Monitor for and document treatment responses and side effects.
Provide patient and family education regarding medications and treatment plans.
Record all administered medications and obtain required co-signatures.
4. EMR & Documentation
Maintain timely, accurate entries in EMR and paper-based documentation systems.
Record all interventions, observations, and patient status changes clearly and consistently.
Verify data accuracy and uphold confidentiality and data protection standards.
Prepare detailed transfer summaries and accompany critical patient referrals when necessary.
Notify supervisors of any data discrepancies.
Assist with wound dressings and support complex medical procedures.
5. Teamwork & Communication
Actively participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings, contributing nursing insights.
Provide structured shift handovers, highlighting key events, prescription updates, and patient follow-ups.
Communicate effectively with patients and families in Bengali, English, and Rohingya as per needed.
Collaborate with doctors and other staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
Support team members during high-pressure situations.
Engage in regular departmental briefings and updates.
6. Training & Capacity Building
Train Nurse Aides on infection control, patient safety, and basic care.
Demonstrate proper techniques for daily support, positioning, and mobility.
Supervise and assess vital signs measurement and documentation skills.
Conduct orientation and ongoing skill refreshers based on identified needs.
Serve as the training focal point and participate in in-service training sessions as needed.
7. Inventory & Resource Management
Perform shift-change inventory checks of medications, equipment, and consumables.
Monitor daily consumption and submit timely restock requests (SIR).
Ensure all reusable medical equipment is sterilized appropriately.
Report equipment failures, supply shortages, or overstock situations to the supervisor.
8. Specialized BEmONC Responsibilities (when applicable)
Assist midwives during normal deliveries under the supervision of a doctor.
Support emergency obstetric procedures and provide postpartum care.
Monitor maternal and fetal status during labor following established protocols.
