Responsibilities & Context:

Provision of Quality WASH Services to the Rohingya Refuges Population, Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for the implementation and rehabilitation of water supply facilities, sanitation facilities, latrines, bathing facilities, fecal sludge management and treatment systems, MRF and associated WASH infrastructure.

  • Support technical assessments of existing WASH facilities and identify requirements for repair, rehabilitation, upgrading, and improvement based on field conditions and operational needs.

  • Assist in supervising construction and installation works to ensure that activities are implemented according to approved designs, drawings, BoQs, specifications, quality standards, and agreed work schedules.

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of construction materials and ensure that materials used for WASH infrastructure comply with approved technical specifications and quality requirements.

  • Assist in monitoring sanitation facilities to identify issues related to structural condition, leakage, overflow, pit/tank filling, sludge accumulation, drainage, accessibility, cleanliness, and safe use, and appropriate actions.

  • Conduct regular field visits and technical inspections to monitor construction progress, facility functionality, quality of work, O&M activities, and compliance with technical standards.

  • Assist in conducting water supply-related technical activities, including borehole development, pump testing, water level monitoring, and assessment of water availability, as required by the project.

  • Provide basic technical support for solar and generator systems associated with WASH facilities and coordinate with relevant technicians for their operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Support and supervise technicians, operators, plumbers, and other field-level technical staff to ensure that assigned activities are performed safely, effectively, and according to required standards.

  • Maintain accurate and updated records of WASH facilities, construction activities, materials, equipment, O&M activities, repairs, facility functionality, and technical interventions.

  • Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc technical reports on assigned Water Supply, Sanitation, and FSM activities.

  • Assist in preparing purchase requisitions, technical specifications, and material requirements based on field assessments and project needs.

  • Assist the Sr. WASH Engineer /Technical Manager in project planning, budgeting, design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Water Supply and Sanitation interventions.

  • Assist in the preparation and review of technical proposals, BoQs, cost estimates, procurement requirements, and implementation plan for WASH infrastructure.

  • Support the implementation of environmental, social, health, and safety measures during construction, operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of WASH facilities.

  • Ensure that appropriate safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe working practices are followed by staff, technicians, contractors, and workers at WASH facilities and construction sites.

  • Coordinate with WASH teams, contractors, technicians, community representatives, government authorities, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation of assigned activities.
