The Psychologist will provide technical leadership and direct support on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions under the LEGO Foundation-funded project "Play to Learn 2.0: Advancing Scalable Solutions to Transform the Lives of Children on the Move", implemented by Mukti Cox's Bazar through a sub-grant agreement with BRAC under Sesame Workshop. The position will support the psychosocial well-being of children, caregivers, teachers, volunteers, and project staff while integrating MHPSS into play-based learning and child development activities.
Main Responsibilities:
Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services
Conduct psychological assessments and provide individual and group counselling services to children, caregivers, volunteers, teachers, and project staff.
Identify psychosocial and mental health concerns and provide appropriate support or referrals.
Support the emotional well-being and resilience of children participating in Humanitarian Play Lab (HPL) activities.
Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) during emergencies and critical incidents.
Capacity Building and Technical Support
Design and deliver training sessions on mental health, psychosocial well-being, self-care, stress management, child development, safeguarding, and positive parenting.
Build the capacity of Para-Counsellors, Play Leaders, teachers, volunteers, and frontline staff through coaching and mentoring.
Provide regular technical supervision and quality assurance support to Para-Counsellors and community-based psychosocial workers.
Develop training materials, guidance notes, and psychosocial support tools.
Program Quality and Integration
Collaborate with project teams to integrate MHPSS into play-based learning, caregiver engagement, child development, and nutrition activities.
Support implementation of evidence-based psychosocial interventions aligned with international standards and donor requirements.
Monitor the quality of psychosocial support services and recommend improvements.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality standards for Humanitarian Play Labs.
Monitoring, Reporting and Documentation
Collect, compile, analyze, and report psychosocial support data using approved project tools and systems.
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, including 4W and donor reporting requirements.
Maintain confidential case records and ensure proper documentation.
Support project learning, case studies, and evidence generation.
Field Monitoring and Supervision
Conduct regular visits to Humanitarian Play Labs, Government Primary Schools, caregiver groups, and community learning spaces.
Monitor service quality and provide technical guidance to field teams.
Identify implementation gaps and propose corrective actions.
Safeguarding, Child Protection and PSEA
· Safeguarding and PSEA: To meet the program's objectives for safeguarding and PSEA implementation, make sure team members are protected from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation. Serve as a major resource for help, direction, and knowledge on safeguarding for developing a safe workplace. To ensure that safeguarding standards are used in every course of action, team members should practice, advocate, and embrace safeguarding policy concerns
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, child protection, and PSEA policies and procedures.
Support safe referral pathways and appropriate response mechanisms for children and adults at risk.
Coordination and Representation
Coordinate with education, child protection, health, and MHPSS stakeholders.
Liaise with government authorities, humanitarian actors, and community leaders when required.
Participate in technical working groups, coordination meetings, and learning events.
Other Duties
Provide technical support to project staff and management.
Conduct staff well-being and counselling sessions when required.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager to support project implementation.
