Responsibilities & Context:

PURPOSE:

The Project Officer – Fisheries will be responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of fisheries and aquaculture-related livelihood interventions at the field level. The position will provide technical guidance to beneficiaries, ensure quality implementation of fisheries & aquaculture activities, technical support & monitor CBA performance, maintain programme documentation and coordinate with relevant stakeholders under the supervision of the Assistant Technical Specialist (Fisheries).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Implement fisheries and aquaculture- related activities in accordance with project plans, technical guidelines, and donor requirements.

• Provide technical support and regular advisory services to beneficiaries of Community Based Aquaculture (CBA), community managed cluster ponds and fishers.

• Conduct routine field visits to monitor water quality, fish farm management, productivity, regularity of CBA group meeting and proper documentation through register & spreadsheet.

• Facilitate and liaison with different stakeholders to ensure smooth operation.

• Assist monthly, quarterly, and activity reports preparation, including success stories and progress updates for project management.

• Identify field challenges, provide technical recommendations, and ensure timely corrective actions under supervisor guidance.

• Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organization and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the program’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
