Responsibilities & Context:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide comprehensive clinical services at BRAC PHCs in hard-to-reach Char and Haor areas, including patient consultation, examination, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.

  • Travel to remote Char or Haor locations and stay overnight at designated PHCs when required to ensure continuity of services.

  • Provide comprehensive ANC services, including risk assessment, counselling, identification and management of complications, timely referral, and follow-up.

  • Perform obstetric ultrasonography (USG) as an integral component of comprehensive ANC services.

  • Assess and manage newborns, children, adolescents, and patients with common acute and chronic illnesses at the primary healthcare level.

  • Screen, assess, manage, counsel, and follow up patients with NCDs, particularly hypertension and diabetes.

  • Identify high-risk pregnancies and maternal/newborn danger signs, initiate appropriate management, and ensure timely referral and follow-up.

  • Review diagnostic and point-of-care test results and provide appropriate clinical decisions and management.

  • Work collaboratively with midwives, paramedics, CHWs, and other PHC staff, providing clinical guidance and mentorship on patient management and referral.

  • Ensure adherence to BRAC protocols, national guidelines, infection prevention and control standards, and quality-of-care requirements.

  • Deliver patient-centred, quality clinical care effectively in challenging and resource-constrained settings.

  • Perform other clinical or programme-related responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
