BACKGROUND OF GONOSHASTHAYA KENDRA AND THE PROJECT:
Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) is a National NGO. GK registered as a Public Charitable Trust in 1972 and started with two visions (a) “the fate of the poor decides the fate of the country, and (b) “development of the country depends on the development of women.”
Gonoshasthaya Kendra Bangladesh and its partner Malteser International are two humanitarian organizations in Bangladesh that have been working on emergency programs since September 2017, post-emergency and development.
Job Context:
Job Location: Rohingya Camp, Ukhiya and Teknaf, Cox`s Bazar.
Starting date of Job: March -2026
Reporting to: Medical Coordinator/ Clinic Manager
It’s a project-based job and the duration depends on approved FD7/FD6 and the availability of funds.
Overall responsibilities:
Perform and interpret ultrasound examinations as required in 03 facilities on a roster basis.
Ensure high-quality imaging while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
Accurately document findings and prepare detailed diagnostic reports.
Provide timely and accurate diagnostic reports to clinicians, midwives, and medical officers
Support early detection of pregnancy complications and referral decision-making
Ensure respectful, dignified, and culturally sensitive care for Rohingya patients
Explain procedures clearly using interpreters or community health volunteers when needed
Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent
Actively participates as a team member to ensure good collaboration, communication and implementation of GKs humanitarian project.
Provide quality curative health consultations following the right procedure (history taking, medical examination, lab investigations, proper diagnosis, and medical prescription) Collect and report beneficiaries’ related data daily.
In absence of the Clinic Manager act as acting clinic manager.
Follow organizational clinical guidelines, SOPs, and infection prevention protocols
Ensure appropriate use, care, and basic maintenance of ultrasound equipment
Support training and mentoring of local healthcare staff when applicable
Collaborate with doctors, midwives, nurses, and referral hospitals
Participate in clinical meetings, audits, and quality improvement activities
Refer patients to the appropriate health facility when treatment cannot be provided at the health facility following the appropriate referral pathway.
Respect the Gonoshasthaya Kendra’s Internal Regulations, Terms, and Conditions of Engagement, and procedures of all departments and agree to contribute to successful collaboration
Represents GK vis-à-vis local communities, authorities, UN agencies, and other humanitarian organizations in a professional manner, upholding GK’s good standing
Act as an SRH focal person (Liaison with other SRH stakeholder)
