Educational Requirements:
∎ Bachelor in Disaster Management/ Development Studies or any other relevant field from any recognised university

Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 5 year(s)

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Take a leading role in the development of DRR strategy
∎ Oversee implementation and monitoring of DRR activities
∎ Ensure budget preparation, project and FLA preparation of DRR project if and when necessary.
∎ Undertake contingency planning related to cyclone, flooding, landslides and fire using participatory methods in consultation with communities
∎ Undertake disaster risk vulnerability mapping in the camps that BRAC have site management mandate, and to share findings with relevant sector leads as well as advice on preparedness actions
∎ Review the humanitarian programme with a DRR lens and advices teams on how to mainstream DRR in their activities
∎ Carry out capacity building/ training for the various sectors within BRAC on DRR
∎ Represent BRAC in sectoral coordination meetings both at COX'S Bazar and at the camp level on DRR issues
∎ Ensure periodic report to Management and Donor and contribute to BRAC's learning
∎ Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme's goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
∎ Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so

Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum 5 years of experience in DRR of emergency situations in NGO/ INGO
∎ Commitment to an understanding of BRAC core values and principles
∎ Demonstrated competency to work independently with minimum supervision
∎ Have effective acquaintance with people management, and donor management
∎ Have excellent writing, reporting, and analytical skills
∎ Have excellent knowledge and skill in Office applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel)
∎ Self-motivation, goal/result-orientation and team work
