Job Purpose: The Senior Officer will manage the Agri Support Service Center as a technical hub for delivering high-quality agricultural advisory services to poor and smallholder farmers, particularly BRAC Microfinance members, through field research, demonstrations, and hands-on learning. The role provides field-level technical support and promotes climate-resilient technologies, improved varieties, and timely weather and market information to enhance farm productivity, profitability, and resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consultation and basic diagnostic services to farmers and field staff through the Agri Support Service Center and ensure timely follow-up support.
Establish and maintain demonstration plots and field research activities to showcase climate-resilient technologies and improved crop varieties.
Conduct practical training and refresher sessions for Program Officers and farmers to strengthen technical knowledge and promote good agricultural practices.
Conduct field visits to assess crop and livestock conditions, identify diseases and production challenges, and recommend appropriate management practices under the guidance of supervisors.
Provide advisory services, including soil and water testing and basic farm performance assessments, and document findings and recommendations.
Organise field days, demonstrations, and awareness sessions to encourage the adoption of improved agricultural technologies and climate-smart farming practices.
Prepare and maintain reports, field records, and data on crop performance, farmer consultations, and Centre activities, and coordinate with farmers and relevant stakeholders to support programme implementation.
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
