Responsibilities & Context:
1. Production Planning & Execution
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly knitting production plans based on fabric demand.
Ensure production targets are achieved according to delivery schedules.
Coordinate with Planning and Merchandising to prioritize urgent orders.
Monitor machine loading and optimize machine capacity utilization.
2. In-house Knitting Operations
Supervise all knitting activities to ensure maximum machine efficiency.
Monitor machine performance, downtime, and production output.
Ensure preventive maintenance is carried out as scheduled.
Optimize manpower utilization across all shifts.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity.
3. Outsourced Knitting Management
Identify and coordinate with approved external knitting units.
Allocate knitting programs to outsourced facilities based on capacity and capability.
Conduct regular visits to subcontract knitting factories to monitor production progress.
Ensure outsourced production meets agreed quality standards and delivery commitments.
Follow up on daily production status and resolve any production bottlenecks.
Verify knitting reports and production reconciliation from outsourced units.
Coordinate logistics for timely yarn dispatch and grey fabric receipt.
4. Quality Management
Ensure knitted fabric meets buyer specifications and internal quality standards.
Minimize knitting defects such as:
Barre
Needle lines
Oil stains
Lycra damage
Hole
Missing yarn
GSM variation
Spirality
Uneven loop formation
Coordinate with the Quality team for corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Monitor first-pass quality and reduce fabric rejection rates.
5. Yarn Management
Ensure proper yarn allocation according to approved consumption.
Monitor yarn utilization and minimize wastage.
Maintain yarn reconciliation between issued and consumed quantities.
Coordinate with the Yarn Store for uninterrupted material availability.
Investigate yarn-related quality issues with suppliers when required.
6. Coordination with Dyeing & Finishing
Ensure timely supply of grey fabric to Dyeing.
Coordinate fabric release according to dyeing capacity and production priorities.
Monitor grey fabric inventory to avoid shortages or overstock.
Resolve production issues jointly with Dyeing and Planning teams.
7. Cost & Productivity Control
Monitor knitting efficiency and production costs.
Reduce machine idle time and unnecessary stoppages.
Improve yarn utilization and reduce process losses.
Monitor subcontract knitting costs against approved budgets.
Prepare productivity and cost analysis reports.
8. Team Management
Lead, coach, and develop knitting supervisors, technicians, and operators.
Conduct regular performance reviews.
Arrange technical training to improve operator skills.
Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with company policies.
9. Compliance & Safety
Ensure compliance with buyer requirements and company SOPs.
Maintain proper housekeeping (5S) throughout the knitting area.
Ensure workplace safety and compliance with environmental standards.
Enforce the use of PPE and safe machine operating practices.
