Experience Requirements

• At least 8 years’ merchandising experience preferably in a reputed buying office in Woven category.

• Must have extensive experience of product development, sourcing of materials, costing, production tracking and execution of small/large volume orders, and various styles orders independently.

• Must be knowledgeable of garments construction and costing, specifically Woven fabric properties, fabric printing, and surface applications (e.g., heat transfer, embroideries, screen-printing).

Technical Job Requirements

• Profound knowledge of Woven garment engineering and production processes is required.

• Have sound knowledge of fabrics and an excellent network of fabric, print, embroidery & trims suppliers.

• Should have excellent understanding of technical / production process.

• Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.

• Should be able to handle MIS entries.

• Must be capable of handling buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude.

• Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures.

• Good understanding of core business aspects

• Should have ideas about effective communication for raw materials booking and delivery.

Job Context

The Senior Merchandiser (Woven) holds the accountability for managing the customer accounts from product development and sampling stage till shipment and payment realization, ensuring seamless execution of daily tasks and timely delivery in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead fabric research and product development activities based on customer requirements and market trends, coordinating with customers, Design, and Technical teams on Tech Packs, sample references, color cards, and other development requirements.

• Coordinate artwork, patterns, measurement specifications, Tech Packs, and sample development with Design, Technical, and factory teams, ensuring customer feedback is incorporated within agreed timelines.

• Source trims, accessories, and other product components through ZXY-listed suppliers in liaison with the Central Sourcing team, ensuring timely development, approval, and availability at factories.

• Evaluate and select appropriate factories for product development and bulk production based on capability, capacity, product requirements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

• Prepare and review initial costings, analyze fabric, trims, and other cost components, and conduct cross costing with factory merchandising teams to achieve competitive and commercially viable pricing.

• Coordinate with customers and internal teams on costing revisions, price negotiations, and order requirements, ensuring accurate costing information is available for order confirmation.

• Review Purchase Orders (PO), order details, delivery requirements, and merchandising documentation to ensure accuracy before communicating confirmed orders to factories.

• Lead Risk Analysis and Handover meetings with relevant cross-functional teams, ensuring potential risks are identified, actions are assigned, and production readiness is achieved.

• Coordinate with Laboratory, Technical, Quality, Fabric, Print, Wash, and other relevant teams to obtain required approvals and resolve product or production-related issues.

• Monitor fabric and trims bookings, sample development, customer approvals, production readiness, and other key milestones to ensure adherence to the Time & Action calendar.

• Oversee the preparation of Sales Contracts, Differential Sheets, Proforma Invoices (PI), and other order-related documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely completion in ZinfoTrek and customer portals.

• Monitor the progress of Merchandisers and Junior Merchandisers, review their follow-ups and order status, provide guidance on operational issues, and ensure critical milestones and customer commitments are met.

• Support Merchandisers and Junior Merchandisers in resolving customer, factory, costing, sampling, and production-related issues, escalating significant concerns to the Team Manager when required.

• Monitor bulk production and shipment activities across assigned orders, proactively coordinating with factories and cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure quality, delivery, and customer requirements are achieved.

• Visit factories as required to review production progress, support issue resolution, guide merchandising teams, and ensure Top / Shipment samples and shipments are completed within agreed timelines.
