  • 12-15 years of experience in apparel merchandising, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position in a fast-paced RMG environment. 

  • In-depth understanding of the global apparel manufacturing process, including fabric sourcing, production, quality control, and logistics.

  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on mentoring and collaboration.

  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with buyers and suppliers.

  • Proficient in using ERP systems, merchandising software, and Microsoft Office; strong analytical abilities to interpret data and market trends.

  • Highly analytical with the ability to make data-driven decisions to resolve issues and improve processes.

  • Flexible and responsive to changing business needs, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally for client meetings, trade shows, and supplier visits.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic business environment.



Responsibilities & Context:

The Head of Merchandising is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction of the merchandising department within Nassa Group. The ideal candidate will lead a large, cross-functional team to ensure product development, client satisfaction, and on-time order delivery while maintaining profitability and market competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and implement merchandising strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives, market positioning, and profitability goals.

  • Lead the development of annual business targets, setting performance goals for sales, market expansion, and profitability in line with the overall business plan.

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and consumer behavior to proactively adjust strategies for maximum market impact.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with global and domestic buyers, ensuring alignment on product expectations and delivery timelines.

  • Handle high-level negotiations on pricing, product specifications, and delivery terms to ensure mutual profitability and satisfaction.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key buyers, addressing concerns, providing updates, and resolving issues swiftly.

  • Lead the team from order inception to product shipment, ensuring compliance with buyer requirements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.

  • Work closely with production, quality control, logistics, and finance teams to ensure seamless order execution.

  • Ensure all garments meet or exceed client quality expectations through diligent oversight of sampling, production, and testing.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development to the merchandising team, ensuring optimal performance.

  • Identify skill gaps and foster a culture of continuous learning and development through regular training and feedback.

  • Conduct annual appraisals and set clear performance expectations to drive the success of the team.

  • Ensure precision in garment costing, taking into account market trends, raw material costs, and production efficiency to achieve optimal profit margins.

  • Develop and manage the department`s financial planning, ensuring cost-efficient operations while meeting revenue targets.

  • Work to enhance margins by minimizing wastage, improving operational efficiency, and managing overheads.

  • Partner with the design, R&D, and production teams to bring innovative, trend-driven product lines to market.

  • Stay updated on global fashion trends, materials, and production technologies to introduce competitive products in line with buyer expectations.

  • Ensure that products are tailored to meet the unique needs of diverse clients in different markets.

  • Build relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and quality sourcing of fabrics, trims, and accessories.

  • Continuously monitor supplier performance, conducting reviews to ensure that they meet quality, cost, and delivery benchmarks.

  • Leverage buying power to negotiate favorable terms and pricing with key suppliers.

  • Ensure all merchandising operations meet local and international labor, environmental, and compliance standards.

  • Lead the company’s efforts to use sustainable materials and practices, minimizing the environmental impact of production.

  •  Ensure that all sourcing activities are aligned with ethical practices and promote corporate social responsibility (CSR).

  • Prepare detailed reports for senior management, including performance metrics, risk assessments, and business forecasts.

  • Utilize data analytics to track market trends, forecast demand, and provide actionable insights to optimize merchandising performance.
