The Assistant General Manager - Merchandising will oversee and manage all aspects of production, quality, and merchandising operations in high-volume apparel factories. The role involves managing operations that export to the US, EU, UK, and Japan, with a focus on denim and non-denim products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in general management, day-to-day operations, large-scale apparel factory settings, and expertise in setting up and implementing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management: Oversee the entire production process, ensuring that production goals are met efficiently and on schedule. Implement and manage production systems to optimize workflow and productivity. Monitor production KPIs and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
Quality Control: Ensure high standards of quality are maintained throughout the production process. Develop and implement quality control procedures and systems. Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Merchandising Operations: Manage merchandising activities for the factories, focusing on the export markets (US, EU, UK, Japan). Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders. Oversee product developments, including sampling and fabric booking. Coordinate ordering and sourcing of trims and other materials.
System Implementation: Set up and implement systems for efficient management of the production and merchandising processes. Ensure all systems are in line with industry best practices and company standards. Continuously evaluate and improve systems to enhance operational efficiency.
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of merchandising and production professionals. Foster a positive and productive work environment. Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
Supply Chain Management: Manage the supply chain to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms. Monitor inventory levels and ensure optimal stock management.
Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all operations comply with local and international regulations. Stay updated with industry standards and regulatory changes. Implement necessary changes to maintain compliance.
Reporting: Prepare and present reports on production, quality, and merchandising activities to senior management. Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Make strategic recommendations based on report findings.
