∎ The Protibesh project is funded by USAID which focuses on three result areas including i) Strengthening environmental governance and management; ii) Mitigating biodiversity threats and iii) Advancement of market-based incentives that promote sustainable natural resources management under the Development Objective "Strengthened Resilience to Natural Hazards." The goal of Protibesh is to improve ecosystem conservation in and around targeted key biodiversity areas of Bangladesh such as northeast haor areas and southwest Sundarbans. CNRS will be engaged in implementing project activities at the ground level with the technical support of Chemonics International.
∎ Job Nature: Full-time (up to May 2026)
∎ Job Location: Any location of North-East and South-West Region of Bangladesh
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Works with and supports coaching of sub-national level officials on setting and meeting conservation targets and implementation of local policies.
∎ Support in developing capacity building of government at sub-national level especially in the area of conservation and co-management.
∎ Support reviews of management plans
∎ Support RIMS, FRSS, and SMART
∎ Liaise with respective governmetn line agencies including Department of Fisheries, Forest Department, Department of Land, selected union parishad and local administration.
∎ Illustrative activities:
∎ Carry out day-to-day activities related to environment governance and management at the regional level and support site offices.
∎ Lead and coordinate all local meetings, ensure good governance and transparency of CMO, dialogues, cross-visits and advocacy events at assigned region.
∎ Assist in building capacity of the local government and communities with guidance of respective technical specialists of Chemonics and CNRS.
∎ Coordinate and assist activities of Protibesh for effective community representation in local government standing committees, identify needs and seek solutions.
∎ Assist technical assistance in reviewing, collecting, collating and analyzing information related to policy reform, biophysical and social change, community sustainability, project anticipated changes, transparent and accountable functions in PAs and climate resilient support building.
∎ Ensure utilization of CMO Networks and other conservation networks, available knowledge base and stakeholder partnership to recommend governance team for actions.
∎ Report changes, conflicts, and new development in the region to respective line manager
∎ Develop necessary guidelines, manuals, action plans etc. in coordination with the team.
∎ Actively participate in local conflict resolution with site offices and provide diagnostic support and report to management authority.
∎ Any other activities as assigned by the respective management.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum five years of experience in governance including supporting and developing government capacity, experience in conservation activities is preferred.
∎ Having excellent understanding on local contexts, co-management, conservation, country policies, rules and acts related to forest and wetland.
∎ Strong ability in working with GoB systems.
∎ Having excellent communication, Facilitation and motivational skill
∎ Understanding on local culture and languages.
∎ Excellent reporting skill in English
∎ Abilities to undertake extensive travel to village level
∎ To protect children in connection and uphold safeguarding principles
∎ Effective computer literacy and Tab & web-based MIS operation
∎ Having problem solving and prompt decision making capacity
∎ Ability to work under pressure
∎ Having non-discriminatory and gender sensitive perception
∎ Willingness and ability to drive motorcycle in the field as and when required; Valid driving license is an added advantage
Salary:
∎ BDT 60,412/month and other admissible benefits.
