Responsibilities & Context:

Location: Upazila level of Chandpur District, with frequent field visits to community levels

Duration: January to May 2026

Project Brief:

The TROSA-2: River Rights and Resilience program commenced its operations in Bangladesh in October 2023. Spanning a duration of four years, from 2023 to 2026, the initiative receives funding from the Government of Sweden (SIDA). In Bangladesh, the program is collaboratively implemented by Oxfam and its affiliated organization, the Center for Natural Resource Studies (CNRS). The primary objective of the program is to empower riverine communities by ensuring their rights, enhancing resilience, and fostering active participation in the management of water resources within the transboundary river basins of the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna (GBM). TROSA endeavors to shape and influence transboundary water governance policies and practices at local, national, and regional tiers. Through strategic partnerships and innovative approaches, the program aspires to contribute significantly to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Part I: Job Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders involved in water governance, ranging from government entities and the private sector to civil society organizations, community representatives, youth, and women leaders, at both grassroots and national levels.

  • Assist in collaborating with basin-level partners, including the regional partner of TROSA.

  • Conduct comprehensive stakeholder mapping, gather relevant intelligence, and strategically influence decision-making processes within the sector.

  • Organize and facilitate workshops, campaigns, and social media initiatives to foster effective stakeholder engagement and awareness.

  • Monitor and evaluate stakeholder feedback, ensuring timely communication with relevant management teams.

  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and execute campaigns that emphasize the inclusion of marginalized communities in water governance. Focus areas include ensuring access to and control over communal water resources and enhancing safety measures against river-related disasters.

  • Engage in strategic planning sessions and consultations to optimize campaign effectiveness and outreach.

  • Conduct thorough research, prepare detailed reports, and document outcomes related to water governance initiatives and projects.

  • Systematically organize and manage data and information pertinent to water governance activities, ensuring accessibility and accuracy.

  • Collect, curate, and disseminate human interest stories that highlight the impact and significance of water governance efforts.

  • Fulfill any other duties or assignments as delegated by the management team.
