∎ Finance Officer is a junior level position at SWB. This position is responsible for the day-to-day finance and accounting. The description below is indicative and will not be limited to the following regarding job profile-

∎ Job Location : SWB Country Office, Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh
∎ Job Duration : One year (with a possibility of expansion)
∎ Job Summary:
∎ As a member of the SWB Finance Team, the Finance Officer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of financial tasks, per SWB policy and procedures. This includes initiating, tracking and following up on all relevant financial actions, including collecting and checking the documents, preparing the request for payment and ensuring that the processes mentioned in the finance manual is followed. This position will manage petty cash and ensure timely payments, tracking of activity expenditures, assist with cash projections, annual audits, and liaison with bank officials for day-to-day banking activities.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Essential duties and responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned as needed by the line manager and by the head of the department.
∎ Treasury, cash and banking functions:
∎ Prepare form C with relevant documents and submit to Bank for inward remittance;
∎ Prepare cash expenses statement to be posted to excel file and accounting software;
∎ Maintain petty cash and disburse as per finance manual;
∎ Regulatory, legal and compliance:
∎ Deduction of Tax where applicable as per government rules;
∎ Adhere to SWB policy manuals, SOPs and other mandatory requirements;
∎ Compliance with law of the land and donors' regulations;
∎ Ensure NGOAB conditions are followed, and requirements are fulfilled;
∎ Data custody and record management:
∎ All financial data backed up on a regular basis;
∎ Maintain financial files and records in a way that is easily accessible for audits
∎ Accounts payable and receivables:
∎ Prepare invoices for local/program income;
∎ Follow up with clients for collection against invoices;
∎ Checking transactions and making payments:
∎ Collect supporting documents from vendors and service providers;
∎ Checking the bills/invoices for accuracy and arithmetical checking;
∎ Prepare payment requests for any payments;
∎ Liaison with vendors and service providers for payment of bills/invoices;
∎ VAT & Taxation:
∎ Provide VAT coupon to suppliers as per their VAT challan;
∎ Prepare Monthly VAT report and submitt them to VAT and USAID offices;
∎ Prepare the statement of taxes and deposit them to government exchequer;
∎ Auditing:
∎ Assist DMFA and DFO in internal and external audit related jobs.
∎ Provide various data to auditors for performing their audits;
∎ Communicate with auditors when required
Additional Requirements:
∎ 2-5 years of working experience in the same field, preferably in the development sector. Previous experience with USAID funded projects is desirable.
∎ Understanding of financial, accounting and reporting procedures;
∎ Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Bangla;
∎ Ability to work in a team;
∎ Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite operations with excellent skills in Excel and Tally software;
∎ Ability to implement and complete tasks independently and on time;
∎ Knowledge of generally Accepted Accounting Principles and laws, rules and regulations;
∎ High standards of integrity;
∎ Ability to handle multiple priorities, and work under strict deadlines;
