Experience & Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft BI Stack

• Strong experience with Power BI, SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, and Microsoft Fabric
• Expertise in Azure Data Services (Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake).

Data Engineering & ETL Expertise

• Proven ability to design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Experience integrating data from multiple sources (APIs, databases, flat files, cloud storage, etc.).
• Knowledge of incremental data loading, partitioning strategies, and performance tuning.

Advanced SQL and Performance Optimization

• Ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies.
• Experience in query performance tuning and troubleshooting bottlenecks in large datasets.

Data Modelling & Architecture

• Expertise in designing data models for analytical workloads, including star and snowflake schemas.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers), and dimensional modelling.

Data Visualization & Reporting

• Ability to develop interactive and visually compelling dashboards using Power BI.
• Experience with DAX, Power Query (M), and performance optimization in Power BI.

Data Quality & Governance

• Strong knowledge of data validation, cleansing techniques, and maintaining data integrity.
• Experience implementing data security, role-based access control (RBAC), and compliance best practices.
• Understanding of data cataloging and metadata management.

Programming & Automation

• Proficiency in Python or PowerShell for data automation and transformation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for data workflows (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Terraform).
• Familiarity with orchestration tools like Apache Airflow is a plus.

Problem-Solving & Performance Tuning

• Ability to troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues and implement scalable solutions.
• Experience in monitoring data infrastructure, identifying inefficiencies, and optimizing performance.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Strong communication skills to gather requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and engage with non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor junior data engineers and collaborate across teams (BI, analytics, software development).

Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge (Desirable)

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) for provisioning data services.
• Understanding of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and distributed computing frameworks.

Role purpose: Working closely with the global IT team and business stakeholders to design, imlplement, and support scalable Business Intelligence (BI) solutions that drive data-informed decision-making across the organization. This role will play a key part in translating analytical requirements into actionable BI solutions using industry best practices. The role requires both the adaptation of existing systems and the development of new pipelines, ensuring robus, reliable and optimized data analytics infrastructure to meet evolving business needs.

Principal Accountabilities

• Develop and Implement BI Solutions: Work under the guidance of the Lead BI Developer to build and deploy data pipelines, models, and dashboards to meet reporting and analytical needs.
• Optimize Data Process: Monitor and enhance data flows for accuracy, efficiency and performance
• Ensure Data Quality: Implement validation checks and error handling to maintain high data integrity
• Collaborate with stakeholders: Translate business requirements into technical solutions through close collaboration with stakeholders.
• Support and Train Users: Empower users by providing training and support on BI tools and reports
• Maintain Data Governance Standards: Adhere to data governance and security policies, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Document Process and Solutions: Maintain clear documentation for data architecture, workflows and transformations
• Advocate Best Practices: Implement BI and data engineering best practices for sustainable, scalable solutions.
• Pursue Continuous Improvement: Identify and Implement enhancements to improve data processing and reporting capabilities
