Educational Requirements:
∎ Minimum Bachelor degree in psychology or social science and others with relevant training and/or experience in counseling.
Job Context:

∎ Reports to Coordinator- Program and Monitoring (CPM).
∎ ARBAN is a non-governmental development organization, concerned with the fundamental rights and the basic needs of the people and registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGOAB) in Bangladesh in 1989. It was founded on 18th February 1984. ARBAN believes that all development projects and programs, designed and implemented by the Government, NGOs, International Organizations, UN bodies and others should be directed towards the fulfilment of the basic needs and fundamental rights of the people who live in perpetual poverty, famine, malnutrition, disease, deprivation, indebtedness, injustice, and exploitations.
∎ ARBAN has recently received the approval of a grant from the Tavola Valdese" Call for Proposals to implement a one year`s project whose title is" Amader Kotha Bolte Daw- Let us talk" / OPM/2022/35884. The project aims to contribute to SDG 5: to empower girls and young women to raise their voices against violence against women and girls (VAWG), such as those formed by the influences of SRHR, and to make decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) that add value to their lives.
∎ Key Selling Points:The Counselor will contribute counseling service to children, adolescents, parents/guardians, community members and teachers (individual meetings, family meetings, group meetings) of project implementation area, in order to respond to their problems specially Abuse/sexual exploitation/VAWG/GBV/SRH, providing for self-referral or referral to relevant institutions; under the overall guidance & supervision of Coordinator- Program and Monitoring (CPM).
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Counselor will be responsible for conducting, but not limited to, the following tasks and activities:
∎ To provide counseling services to children, adolescents, parents/guardians, community members and teachers (individual meetings, family meetings, group meetings) of ARBAN schools catchment area, in order to respond to their problems, providing for self-referral or referral to relevant institutions;
∎ To ensure regular follow up of counseled cases;
∎ To build rapport with the beneficiaries; to encourage them to seek help for their problems by opening up safe and comfortable space where they can express themselves and share their constraints;
∎ To liaise with other stakeholders operating in the sector within the same target area and identify competent local resources for referrals whenever necessary;
∎ To conduct, gender education sessions in ARBAN and partners schools;
∎ When requested, to support the peer leaders of the adolescent clubs in performing their tasks;
∎ To establish cordial, warm, and faithful relationship with the beneficiaries in the target areas;
∎ To contribute to ensure child protection policy in the workplace;
∎ To maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism;
∎ To conduct psycho-educational workshops and trainings (as needed);
∎ To perform administrative duties, including participating in meetings and other activities, completing reporting requirements;
∎ To prepare monthly and yearly activity plans;
∎ To perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
∎ Perform any other tasks as required by the line manager or ARBAN.
Additional Requirements:
∎ The vacancy is open to national candidates. The applicants shall possess the following skills and experience:
∎ Extensive knowledge & training in Mental Health, SRHR, Gender & Social Analysis, Human Rights & Women Empowerment is an asset.
∎ knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel particularly.
∎ Good teamwork spirit;
∎ Good in both Bangla and English;
∎ Responsible, flexible and adaptable.
