Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Child Protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) sector, preferably in school feeding or other UN-related programs.
Experience working with children, schools, or vulnerable populations is an advantage.
Proven experience collaborating with government, UN agencies, international NGOs, and communities.
Strong understanding of complaint response mechanisms, child protection principles, and gender equality frameworks.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with the cultural and social context of Bhasanchar or similar locations.
Ability to work effectively in a team and under challenging conditions.
Fluency in English and the Bangla language (Rohingya/Chittagonian dialect is highly desirable).
Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, as well as email and internet browsing.
The Assistant Child Protection and Gender Officer will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the school feeding program in Bhasanchar. This position ensures that gender and child protection considerations are fully integrated into the program. The focus is on promoting safe and inclusive learning environments, safeguarding children, and addressing the unique needs of girls and vulnerable groups.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation of child protection policies and protocols for the school feeding program.
Conduct regular monitoring to ensure compliance with child safeguarding standards in schools, central kitchens, and feeding sites.
Identify and report on child protection risks and cases, ensuring timely referrals to appropriate services.
Ensure that complaint response mechanisms are in place and functioning effectively.
Promote gender-sensitive approaches in the delivery of school feeding activities.
Collaborate with local authorities and partners to raise awareness about the importance of education for both girls and boys.
Work closely with parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote child protection and gender equality.
Organize awareness sessions on child safety and protection for students, teachers, and parents.
Facilitate training sessions for teachers and staff on gender equality and inclusion in education.
Assist in collecting data related to child protection and gender for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Coordination:
Work in close collaboration with the Relief Coordinator, Project Officer, and the school feeding program team to ensure that PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), child protection, and gender considerations are integrated into all activities.
Participate in coordination meetings with partners and stakeholders to address child protection and gender-related challenges.
